HOD PNW track days

looks cool. Would suggest everyone do at least on track day as a novice.
I did my first track day in a MiniCooper Clubman S. had followed a friend to help pit and just get some exposure to racing. At the time I had just bought my Evora but had taken the Mini to hall some extra wheels.
They talked me into "run what you brung" So a manual Mini with all season tires.
Learned so much. Driving instructors were great on and off the track. Nice to see all the different levels of ability.
Thrilling to on a track with 20 cars and slowly working out when and how to pass

Find a local Race outfitter in your area and sign up, if just to watch. If you are a car enthusiast, you will be hooked.

Just posting this to see if there is any interest in going to the HOD events in PNW. They are hosting events at the Ridge, PIR, and ORP. I heard they are also going to put Pacific Raceways on their calendar this year.
Here is a link to their first event in March at the Ridge.

I do lots of track days at both locations, PR is terrible IMO and too many incidents. Will miss The Ridge next month as I am taking the BMW Adv M School but will be at ORP in mid Apr but not with HOD. Look forward seeing some Emira's out there this year

Track insurance is one of those interesting topics ... for some, it puts them at ease knowing they have backup. For novice, I wouldn't bother. The Ridge has excellent run offs and as long as you aren't driving hard in the rain (i.e. hydro plane potential) then it's really a safe track ... same as ORP. I will tell you that the group I track with, we all run adv group and none of us buy insurance. I run in the 1:40s so I'm pushing pretty good but not once do I feel like I'm on the brink of disaster. I've known two people who had an incident ... one person turned off ESC / TC and wasn't even close to being ready to handle and the other wasn't paying attention to where they were on track and was focused on the car in front and ran off with some front end damage/wheel busted. If you don't drive above your ability and be stupid then you should be fine.

I thought "track insurance" was 50 to 100 guys at the tract that will swear any damage to your car happened on the way to the track :ROFLMAO:

True but lots of times there’s stuff that’s not in your control like other bad drivers or debris on the track etc. I think I’ve been to 7 or 8 tracks and about half of those time there’s been an incident. I guess it depends on how risk averse one is

I've been probably 40+ days and never experienced an on track incident, the two I mentioned happened when I wasn't there. Always a personal choice on risk and how much at ease it puts someone. Just let me know when you are going to be on track as your % is higher than I like and I should avoid those days :-)
