Emira on order
Every friggin' time I see a delivery of a nicely spec'd Emira I feel like I've made a mistake!

I ordered the Seneca Blue launch spec with Ice Grey interior. My order had to be placed over a year ago, after seeing the paint samples, but way before any real car pictures showed up. I agonized over the decision for weeks (who am I kidding? it was months!), knowing that when the dealer calls me to lock in the order I had to have it ready. Back then, the configurator Nimbus Grey looked like some kind of a flat mouse grey you'd paint a garage floor. The Dark Verdant was too dark, the Hethel Yellow had no flake (depth) and looked boring, the Nimbus Grey was bland, the Shadow Grey seemed drab, and the Magma Red was too dark and didn't feel like Lotus.

Now, as I jealously watch people receive their cars I can't help but think how awesome the car looks in other colors. The Dark Verdant is menacingly dark, but in the right light it shines beautifully. It's such a rewarding color, which is both reserved and bold at the same time. With a tan leather interior.... why didn't I order it?? The Magma Red, with it's deep dark cherry red color. Visible from miles away and just decadent. It's a dessert I yearn after. The Nimbus Grey looks timeless, while also having titanium/champaign hues with so much character as the light moves around the curvacious body. Surely, that's the one I should have gotten! The Hethel Yellow.... with black brake calipers and a black pack, beaming. It's bold and bright, definitely attracts attention. When it rolled out during the Eletre reveal I thought I had to have that!!

Don't get me wrong, I still think the car I ordered is beautiful in Seneca Blue, with yellow brake calipers, black pack, diamond cut wheels and that beautiful ice grey interior (see exact spec below). It's bright and noticeable, but not too crazy. It feels grown up, but a kid at heart. I can't wait to get it, but I also constantly lust after all the other colors and combinations. I want them all! Damn you, Lotus!!

Who else feels similarly? Do you lust after other configurations or is nothing of interest except for what you've spec'd?

P.S. Mine will be exactly like this one:

I've never felt so conflicted with the spec of a car - perhaps it's because it looks so good in all the colors. When it came time to lock in my order, very few real world pictures existed and if they did it didn't show the colors in their full spectrum. There was that one photo that leaked of the Nimbus in the factory, and I thought to myself, hmmm it's too dark. I ran all the combinations through my head with the little time I had to make up my mind. Sure enough, two months later I wrote to my dealer and Lotus and they reluctantly allowed me to switch from Magma to Nimbus (after some thinking, I decided on something a bit more subtle). The lines of the Emira are so good that there is no "wrong" color - but I fully understand the pain of having to choose one and stick with it!

It is easy to overthink these things. The Emira looks stunning in Seneca - Lotus chose it as their launch colour for a reason. I have had several unprompted 'love the colour' comments about mine. Honestly, before the Emira launch if you had told me I could have had any colour from any manufacturer for my next Lotus I would have chosen Daytona Blue. Seneca is almost the same shade but with a subtle metallic fleck so even better. Your spec will look great so relax and enjoy

Exact same spec, exact same quandary.

I have seen Seneca in the flesh several times. It’s a great colour.
For me as I worked through the configurer before the cars actually appeared as soon as I got to Magma I just thought that’s the one for me. And it is!
But there are no bad colours, I have seen them all up close and they all look great.

You are not alone!

I collect Dark Verdant next week, still have occasional nimbus pangs - it shows off the form so well and is somehow classy and sporty all at once. And it will look clean longer after every wash, DV will look clean for about 5 minutes!

Some very talented people spent a lot of time coming up with and finessing these colours - there are no "bad" choices.

Having driven a few miles now in not great conditions I can confirm the bonnet and roof pretty much stay clean all the time, the sides pick up a good degree of road spray and the tail looks like someone has attacked it with a mud gun!
Some colours do a good job of hiding grime but Magma is not one of them!

I want Seneca myself by far over any of the other current colors. I've yet to see Seneca in person. Just Shadow and Yellow. The red does really look good though.
I am torn on the interior options though. The white is too white and the tan is too orangey. Going to get see all when visit factory in June.

Welcome back 😄 Congratulations on collecting soon!

I am torn between the verdant and the nimbus too! Trouble is I can still change my spec so I'm still flipflopping between the two on a daily basis! Saw the verdant in person in a carpark and it is so dark it looked black which hid a lot of the beautiful lines that the car has. The nimbus shows these lines much better and having owned a car in a similar colour, it is a classy colour and I know it will hide dirt pretty well. But the verdant is such a unique and special colour and I have always wanted a car in BRG. I know if I stick with verdant, there will be a day when I am walking up to it when the car is clean, the sun is shining and the light reflects off it at just the right angle... but do I want a colour for that 1-10% of the time? I need help...

First world problems! 😉

I'm getting Hethel Yellow but will be getting it fully multi color pattern wrapped so there is always that option if you aren't 100% satisfied or just want a change.

I completely sympathize! From the moment I saw the Emira I was fully in on Seneca Blue. However recently I have started to waver. My current car is blue and I'm struggling with ordering Seneca without actually seeing it in person. I recently started considering Magma red with the black pack. Fast forward to this past weekend when I saw and test drove a Nimbus FE. I was really intrigue with the color especially with changes in the lighting. After agonizing for the past few days and looking at as many pictures as I can, I am now 98% sure I'm going with Nimbus!

Now the next decision is interior! I was alcantara with yellow stitching with the Seneca, but after seeing the combo of Nimbus with tan leather I'm considering switching that as well! Absolute torture! First world problems however.

It’s so damn hard! All I can suggest is the more you see them in the flesh the clearer your choice will become.

When I toured the factory earlier this month, my guide said that Shadow Grey was the most “changed from” color. Nimbus Grey was the most “changed to” color.

After seeing Nimbus in person at the factory I was glad that’s what I ordered!

Thanks for the reminder. Now you've got me debating (again) and it's not like I can do anything about it at this point.

I also spec'd Seneca blue + Ice, but with black wheels.

I saw both Shadow and Hethel yellow in person during the US tours. Shadow was interesting, but still grey at the end of the day. I don't like non-metallic paints, so Hethel yellow was out. I can't see myself in a red sports car, so Magma was out (somehow wife also agreed). It came down to Seneca and Nimbus and I went Seneca. Porsche also has couple of similar blues and I am always drawn to them, so I think I made the right choice for me.

After seeing the leather/alcantara seats in person, I didn't find them to be premium looking. I also wanted a non-dark interior, so I went out to BMW and Porsche dealerships to see their light grey leather interiors and loved them. Hence, Ice... even though the leather stretching will probably drive me insane. Not worried about the cleanliness factor since it's a weekend car.

The other debate is to keep the Evora GT or not. I feel like I will end up driving the Evora more, but who knows. Plus kids love it because they can somehow fit in the back seat.
