Guys the notion that this is difficult because of 3 connectors that basically swap right in and click is unfounded. The only reason why they may be some difficulty level is because one of the boost sensors is not as easily accessible from the top so you must take off the bottom diffuser and get to it from there but that is the only one, the other simply click in seconds lol
After ordering the unit, TDI did graciously send me an email asking if i felt comfortable removing the rear diffuser and underbody to get access to one of the harnesses or if i had a shop that could do it before completing my order. Ive already had the rear diffuser off once for the GRP Ti exhaust install, not a big deal.

I will have the rear bumper off as well whenever i get the car back from PPF for the Ti exhaust tip and Woflbox rear camera installs. so will have a better idea of how easy (or difficult) lower harness plug is. at least its all harness plugs and not old skool wire dissection....LOL.

This was the same problem jb4 ran into and decided to not make one for the Mercedes A45 because they thought customers wouldn’t want to deal with it. But on the Emira, should be a lot easier to access the bottom of the engine.

Hey guys, I went ahead and scanned the install instruction in PDF for y'all, so you can determine for yourself...cheers
Cheers, that’s perfect, certainly nothing there to put me off fitting one myself.

As it seems from this instalaiton guide and my assumption they fool the original ECU to think it's running lower boost and different RPM than the engine actually does.

And then relay on that the ECU are capable of adjusting fuel and ignition on these false inputs, so it still runs safe and not lean out or other bad things happens after a while?

This might work ok for a road vehicle for some time that only see short periods of full trottle, but I would be even more skeptical to run this on track when the car is propper used.

This is my thoughts, but I'm more than happy to stand corrected if anyone that actually know what this box is doing with the signals it shows to the ECU.
and how the ECU reacts to this manipulated signals. I would love to get a clarification. (and even and buy a box if this explanation is trustworthy. :))

I believe TDI did a great job spelling the install out. My only problem, and I usually run piggybacks on all my cars, as the I4 is screaming for one.....it's the fact these cars are service prone and I'm just concerned that I'll have to rinse and repeat every time there's a warranty issue. And with the state of Lotus, they will bounce any claim hard if they get whiff of this.

Just my thoughts as I'm aching to install one.

Most warranty issues don't really involve taking the engine apart. I think one can hide it enough that it's not noticed. For any computer ECU connection put it in mode 1 and I believe it is bypassed electronically

For any computer ECU connection put it in mode 1 and I believe it is bypassed electronically. I can always verify with TDI. Another option is to make a longer lead to boost 1 so that it is now accessible from the top of the engine somewhere. Then it would just be 3 easy plugs to disconnect

seems pretty straight forward…

I have to wait for the 1000 mile brea in cuz I know if I put this thing in I'm not going to be disciplined lol

That's a great result thanks for posting the update. Quick question, hopefully it's not daft one, but does the cars power gauge/display still max out at 360bhp or does it show your new figure. Thanks
I had mine done by TDI yesterday and there’s a noticeable difference. There’s so much more power from 5000 rpm. My horsepower display still only tops out at 360

Who knows what sensors are being altered and what that performance meter is accessing to estimate power. Have to use an external performance meter

Thanks for answering my question, much appreciated. I’m guessing you’re happy with it then. I’m going to give it a bit of thought over the weekend and perhaps do something next week.

Very happy with it. I will do draggy times with the box off and on to see the difference. I have a bmw 435d with 430bhp and 800nm and ran it against the emira today and the emira ran away with it. Before the box that wasn’t the case.

Apologies to spam the same question again...I will know soon enough when mine gets installed but I'm overseas and my Emira is also at the dealer with a failed steering pump...

what happens with level 7 of the box while in touring mode? it's just...touring mode with more power? same with track mode, etc.? like is there anything different in terms of engine mapping in touring vs sport vs track and the 1-7 on the box?

Well I’ve not quite decided what to do yet, but just in case I ran this past my insurance company to see what it would add and it came out at £8 extra for the year, happy with that.

Admiral, they don’t seem to be modification adverse, I’ve another car insured with them that has quite a lot of mod’s and in that case there’s no additional premium for any of the mods.
Thats really good news. I'm with them already for the Cars & House. :D
