Im baffled maybe a country thing. Why would you need to tell your Insurance company?
In the UK you need to tell the insurance company about any significant modification if it could affect performance or resale/replacement value. I had expected it would be the same in most countries? If you make a claim and they find out that you've made a change to the car they could refuse to pay out - and then it gets all legal.... I remember reading about a claim being refused as someone had replaced their mild steel exhaust with a stainless steel version - just for longevity not for performance - although this case did end up with the insurance being paid in the end.

They will even pick you up on Brake pads. God forbid you have "Not for Road Use" Pads on your car and have an accident.

that is...both logical and insane (!) yeah we don't do that in the US

in the States your car insurance cover accidents and property damage but that is (extremely) rarely ever linked to anything you've done to the car - that has more to do with your warranty, so like, your 3rd gear disintegrates due to your motor making tons of power now that's a warranty thing. And then you have two camps of people, one camp you understand you pay to play...the other imagines ways to try and fool the dealership.

I didn't know that. When I doubled the power of my Elise, my current insurance company refused to insure it and I had to go to a specialist insurer at double the cost. So if I had done that in the US I wouldn't even have had to tell my insurance company, that's wild?

The US seems to have a much better system. One you would not have to tell your normal insurance company about any of that. Two what is even better is that you can get specialty car insurance that covers all your modifications if you were to have a loss. That's what happened to me and I got every dime back of what I pay for the car and whatever I put into it was which was tens of thousands of dollars. They call it agreed value insurance and since it's viewed as a recreational vehicle the insurance was not that bad.

Putting an aftermarket downpipe and exhaust on my i4 just added $580 to my insurance..... scamming insurance companies!!!

Looks like 391 or so at the wheels, will be ready in couple of weeks. This looks to be similar to TDI product where you need to connect to the sensors.....not just simple plug in

So that's 460bhp. Yes similar to TDI estimate for the US Emira. Curious to the price point
