Interesting info on the Mercedes-AMG M139 four-cylinder engine

A few observations as an engineer: the casting is incredibly thin walled, looks more like additive manufacturing (3D printing) than casting, but it will certainly be die-casting. Oil pump is belt driven, interesting to see what the mileage will be on that, but looks like fairly easy to get to. Funny to see they use Makita and not Bosch for powered tools at AMG, I guess they are the best. Finally: I hope they work with more people and faster today, otherwise my i4 will not arrive until 2050.. ;-)
 
Cosworth got over 500 bhp form the crappy old Ford Pinto 2.0 , back in the 1980s
 
If AMG operates anything like Porsche (I’ll bet they do) sets of pistons and sets of connecting rods are matched by weight. If I remember correctly, the rods are within three grams in a Porsche motor. The Porsche’s opposed configuration may make this more critical.
