So quick update. I booked the car in last week with Stratton Motor Company which is Lotus approved servicing nearest me (and the factory). Told them the issues ans they said Iā€™d have the car back the next day. That was supposed to be Wednesday but today I got an update and they let me know a Lotus field tech had come out and thereā€™s more issues then expected.

First the seatbelts are by design which I said was stupid and the manager agreed with me. So will have to fix that issue myselfā€¦.

The body work related issues theyā€™re going to fix

The brakes the tech said just needed breaking in but mentioned somehow the alignment could be causing odd braking? Which makes zero sense.

The kicker was that they said the power steering was faulty/leaking and needed to replace the rackā€¦. Canā€™t have the car back like it and they are waiting for Lotus to sign off on it as wellā€¦..

No courtesy car or anything so Iā€™m a bit miffed in honesty.

Yea doesnā€™t mean itā€™s right though. Must be the only car which this issue
I didnā€™t really notice any major issue with the seatbelt. But I only had the car a couple of days and I havenā€™t seen it now for two weeks, I was more concerned with the fact that I had to use all my might to get the car to go round a roundabout.

I wasn't saying it was right, I totally agree with what is being said here, they look completely wrong how they are being fitted, was just saying it had been queried on collection as I was confused about it too...
This just doesn't make any sense. Since the belt assemblies themselves are marked as RH and LH, why would you not install them that way, like every other vehicle manufacturer in the world does? They're DESIGNED to work that way. I don't see what possible reason there would be to install them on the wrong side, and then twist the belt to make it work the way the correctly designed assembly for that side does if you install it!??

Okay, THIS one is a real head scratcher. Scott may be a great guy and very knowledgeable, but I would like to know from one of the design/safety engineers at Hethel what their reasoning is for doing this. Does anybody know what the names of any of them are? It would be worth writing to them to find out what's behind this.

So update on the situation. After the car having been off the road longer than it should and myself and Jonathan at Stratton were having no luck getting parts from Lotus.
I ended up going right to the top of the food chain of aftersales. Geoff was kind enough to say I was right to tell him about the situation and after that the issue was sorted the next week. Got my car back and touch wood itā€™s been fine! Now done the break in mileage of 1000 and opened it up and itā€™s brilliant. The best part was the 300 mile trip around the Suffolk and Norfolk coast to do those miles. Didnā€™t get many photos unfortunately but the car pulls a crowd wherever it goes. Got VIP parking at blickling hall as well.

Picture was from thorpeness a lovely little village on the route.

Quick pull on my private road

Happy to hear youā€™ve got your car back

Itā€™s a shame it took going to the top to get taken seriously, especially when Stratton is the closest service centre to Hethel
