Are there any forum members out there with the Larini exhaust? I have watched the videos and read the threads from RevMonkey, I just didn’t know if anyone else had it.

I would also like to hear more examples. im having a hard time picking between larini and GRP TI

Yea, not sure what ever happened to Larini, I don't even see the exhaust listed on their website for the Emira. I think it got drowned out by all of the other exhausts that has come on the market. My first recommendation would be the third cat delete and Milltek valve controller. Even according to RevMonkey, the 3rd cat delete was the thing that made the biggest difference. lf that's not enough, then you can think about an exhaust after that.

This car sounds soooooo good with just the 3rd cat delete and valve controller.

It would have to sound an order of magnitude better to make Larini or any other exhaust worth it for me, and I just don’t see that happening.

I think the stock muffler/resonator/whatever has a pretty aggressive tone without rasp or drone. I would absolutely not trade it for an aftermarket muffler unless there was no resonance whatsoever.

The stock piece also looks very nicely made. Weight savings alone is not worth the cost for me.

I was also between Larini, Valvetronic & GRP TI systems. After speaking with some folks, I steered away from the Valvetronic system - apparently it may have some QA bugs to sort out. I ended up going with the GRP TI, 3rd cat delete + valve controller. I plan to post some before and after videos so people here can (hopefully) have a better idea of what the set up sounds like

I you don't care about the weight savings, the valve and 3rd cat delete are the way to go. Power gains with the cat back exhausts are minimal. I wouldn't bother with anything other than a ti exhaust if you do buy one for these reasons.

I tried out the Larini on my Evora GT. I have vids of it if anyone is interested. I thought it was pretty good just not what I was after. It wasn’t as aggressive as OEM + decat. It but had more of shreek to it

Which company's 3rd cat deletes would you say sounds the best? I know most are V6 owners, but I'm super curious as to how it will make the i4 sound.

Mine is a i4 and I replaced the front pipe (sport cat plus no gpf) along with the milteck controller, the difference is night and day. Good enough for me that I do not plan to replace the exhaust anytime soon. The problem on the i4 is the gpf in the front pipe, once you get it off, it sounds great. The only better system I have heard is the factory race pipes from Lotus China but it would definitely piss off your neighbors.

I can’t imagine there’s any perceivable difference between the sounds of various 3rd cat deletes. They all accomplish the same thing with nearly identically dimensions.

Ok, that's what I thought. and yes I would like to maximize sound without pissing off my neighbors. Only issue is, I live in California lol sigh. Thanks for the info.

You might ask one of our great sponsors that sell 3rd cat deletes exactly what happens when the 3rd cat is removed. My understanding is that does not throw any error codes and is unmonitored.

Hi there,
Is the 3rd cat delete pipe for the i4 also supplied by Milltek? Did you fit it yourself or have Milltek do it?
Also if you don’t mind what was the £

I plan to get the Larini when I get my emira. Loved it on my Elise, and since mostly everybody has the same exhaust setup. I’d want to have a slightly different tone. Wish there was a video where there was another Larini exhaust installed.

We just need someone to do recording- studio quality samples or before and after of all the major brands and combinations! Somebody get on that. And make it available for free…

These cars just sound sooo good with a 3rd cat delete and valve controller. Added bonus, it doesn’t seem that combination produces drone or rasp. The cheapest solution may be the best in this situation, and that’s almost never the situation!

I have come to this realization with my 2006 Mustang GT. The stock mufflers sound pretty dang good. No drone, no rasp, and fairly loud at WOT. When my car was new, I had multiple people ask what exhaust I had on it. Everyone looked surprised when I said completely stock. Bonus, there was absolutely no significant power gain to be had with swapping mufflers only. Maybe 1-3 horsepower, if I remember old forum posts and Mustang magazine articles.

I do have some long tube headers I need to install, however, and I suspect the sound may change just a little after Input those on…

I have the Larini exhaust with a 3rd Cat delete. The sound is great (from my perspective)! Komo-Tec installed everything and I am super happy. The video attached is not as good as in the real world.

did you have any time with the car with the 3rd cat delete but BEFORE the Larini exhaust upgrade? im hoping you could describe the difference only the Larini part made

No I have not. Sorry!
Komo-Tec recommended to do both steps (3rd cat delete and Larini) in one. In two weeks I get an upgrade to 470 horsepower with a HJS Sport cat instead of the 2nd. I will send you an video with that sound- can‘t wait.
