Impressive and also curious that this news breaks at the same time as Mike Johnstone announces resignation. Nonetheless, an impressive ring time and record breaking for a production vehicle. Looks like they think it can do a little more as well. This is a good piece of advertising for Lotus and a step in the right direction of playing with the big boys at Porsche.

6:24 certainly isn't slow!! 3rd fastest car to ever lap the Ring. 🏁

That in car footage almost looks like it's been sped up. Not saying it has, just saying it looks like it

But what's the Emira's lap time? Ideally sub 8min. I guess we'll never know...

Yeah, I mean the Civic Type R did it in 7:44 and and 718 GT4 in 7:28. Exige Cup cars are usually around 7:45 and I think the Evora 400 was just barely under the 8 minute mark.

A Civic is faster on the track than an Exige Cup? Yikes.

That's just abnormal..... but the Evija X is a production chassis car with added aero mind you. It's an impressive ring time.
This “production chassis” thing feels like a bit of a stretch record to me.

They basically just stripped it into a race car and kept the carbon chassis, but everything else is gone, including the whole interior. Doesn’t even have headlights.

Ummm.... I dunno, going that fast in ANY car in the ring is a feat in itself. Stripped down or not. Even if they put back in a carbon bucket seat and some interior trim, don't think it would add 10 seconds to its time anyway.

The Aero certainly helped.

Yes it’s a very fast car, crazy tech, and an impressive time regardless of what it’s made out of. I just have issue with this “production-adjacent” marketing tag. It’s almost entirely a purpose built race car.

No way I would take any car out at those speeds on that track without a race seat, harness, and protective gear, that would be a suicide mission. Plus don’t forget a diaper as it would be full after that run, that is crazy fast.

Speed runs like these can only be created after fights with the wifey

watch JWWW video... the race driver looked a bit terrified while talking about some of the speeds... this genuinely a dangerous thing to pull off.

That didn't look fun or even exhilarating. It looked disturbing more than anything else, like someone in a machine just trying to stay alive lol. These new machines are insane.

And even more so a full roll cage. After pushing a relatively stock vehicle on the track for a while I made the jump to a dedicated track car with a full cage. Also saw several times what happens to a 911 going 120-mph around turn 12 at Road Atlanta and "kisses" the concrete wall.

An in-depth and insightful behind-the-scenes video for the record setting lap of Evija X. Puts into perspective what a massive undertaking this was. Also spends some time with Emiras on the Nürburgring.

Exige V6 did it in 7:53, Evora 400 in 7:59.

Unfortunately it looks like SportAuto isnt going to test the Emira. To be honest I doubt that it would be much faster then the Evora 400, looking at the same engine, same power and heavier weight. Might even be a challenge to get below the 8min mark.
