Message from Matt Windle regarding Emira delays

Has that Sept delivery been re-confirmed since 26 June?

Ive just chased my delivery with Lotus. Cant recall the date of my order but it was the day of the official Lotus reveal, not Goodwood
Delivery was originally slated for June
Delays for all orders are 6-8 weeks from the last notification and they confirmed a build slot for me in Sept
I also sent a follow on email enquiring as to whether my order will slip further due to potential delays on Autoboxes. Response was as below

The factory has not confirmed if specific specifications will incur further delays, as they currently sit at 6-8 weeks for all Emira orders.

If this information is available to us, we will reach out and advise you accordingly.
Your deposit date would make you part of the first batch, I believe Iā€™m in the second batch with a 10th of July deposit.

So as long as there are no further delays you should be September/October delivery.

Better position than me.

I called Customer Care a few weeks ago and was told that my delivery would be Nov 22 (Deposit 13th July), this was after receiving an email 6 weeks or so earlier confirming October Delivery.

Anyway today i received a call from Lotus saying that they had a cancelled order which was similar spec to mine and would i be interested in taking this to get my car sooner, i asked when this was due for delivery and told Nov 22, i said that's when i am getting mine and the lady i spoke to said that mine had now been scheduled for Dec 22 delivery, i declined the offer and said i would prefer to wait for my spec if it is only a month or so different.

Great way to find out yours is delayed....

I called CS today. Your car was due for July build, it is now September build. Is that info from a production schedule or CS tagging 8 weeks onto the original build date........we have added 8 weeks on. We expect to contact you in August.....that's OK. I will be patient

My car is auto, does that make a difference to the build date? Ermmm......shouldn't. Ok, I will be patient.

So Mr Windle tells us, the first customer deliveries expected in June are delayed, then we hear on the grapevine from Goodwood its a 6 to 8 week delay (confirmed by customer service), and now on the grapevine itā€™s September at the earliest (yet again confirmed by customer service), in my books thatā€™s more than a 6 to 8 week delay, and still no emails regarding delivery since mid may. Did Mr Windle not inform us that we would be informed ASAP.
If it is true that the car behind him actually is the first customer car why has it not been delivered? if as implied it was complete.
Sorry I sound so pissed but this is my second year on the trot that my summer toy hasnā€™t arrived.

By the time that customer gets that car the discs will have rusted

It's probably a scheduling nightmare for Lotus. They'd be better off committing to quarters rather than months. The only upside is if we can get a test drive before fully committing. Let's hope Lotus prioritise test drives in the same way they are sequencing deliveries based on deposit date.

They started with Seasonsā€¦ hahaha

Where in the world would that work?

Seasons! Hahaha

I can only guess at how frustrating this all must be for the team at Lotus. To have a beautiful car, the biggest sales interest in their history, and every stupid little thing imaginable keeps popping up to hinder their production. It must be like playing a giant game of whack-a-mole, except it isn't a game, and their survival actually depends on beating all this. Hang in there team; you're building something great, and it's going to be worth all the struggles to get there.

Regards delays. Posted in another thread by @EM33RA šŸ†
Thought it needed 'pinning' in it's own thread

I will order my Usa Emira Friday of this week. I hope that the current pricing will apply to me.

ā€˜ā€™this a a great piece of communication from Lotus. All companies should be so transparent and customer oriented.

With my original date being July build August delivery this confirms a 3 month delay for the auto box as mentioned on here previously.

To switch to the I4 option would be a Q1 2023 delivery, so staying with the V6.
Early batch, original July build cars with auto box, will be built as they have enough auto box inventory for first batch to be built September.

Welcome to the watch party, and for joining us on this odyssey.
Full disclosure: you caught Matt on a good day.
As noted elsewhere, Lotus has its own definition of soon.
Make sure you check out the Index of Reviews thread.
Cheers....

Still no delay talk or updates from US dealers. My dealer still says I'll get my Emira in November. šŸ™„

Like others, the excitement has been fading and lack of communication from Lotus of US is extremely frustrating.

Most other manufactures have been attempting to manage expectations and demand with clear notices on their websites reguarding delays. I've posted the one I saw when configuring a Cayman recently and here's Audi's...

yes landrover do the same, its almost industry wide on the "higher" end cars I think.
You are right in what you say, but if it makes you feel any better, and I know it wont, the Uk customers while having received a couple of emails, without them writing first, still dont actually know much more than you do. No one knows the actual date of their car, despite the emails, which were as you know, quite... underwhelming in their preciseness and trying to make us grasp the situation.
Also, as a Spanish customer, I have also received zero communication since placing a 10,000 euros deposit, so there is no need to feel left out. We all know Lotus needs to and are working on improving this side, BUT dont expect much improvement until next year I would estimate.

It's just so crazy to me. Maybe because I'm a UX website manager, but there are thousands of young people looking for jobs that would jump at the opportunity to work for Lotus handling their PR and social media presence.

I'm even running an Emira Instagram with 1k+ followers for free just because I love the car and want a way to track news and leaks and interact with other enthusiasts. It's free marketing for Lotus! Not to mention the deposit money they have from me... I should reach out and offer to be their US rep. It's not hard to compose regular emails and drip campaigns to keep paying and potential customers connected.
