Apologies if I've mentioned this before, but when my Macan was on order I received a package from Porsche with a simple metal model of a classic Porsche Speedster and a small screwdriver. The letter said something like "while we make your Macan, please have fun building another Porsche"
It was brand-building genius. Two years later I'm still telling people about it.
I get asked all the time have you got the car yet, you said you were getting it in March. The other day someone said have you really got one on order. Well, I have paid £5000 deposit for one, very little correspondence from Lotus, so seemingly not important to Lotus. Last time they said August manufacture for September delivery. After many dates given for delivery have passed, I am taking this latest date for delivery with a pinch of salt. My feeling about it now is not to believe what Lotus tells me and I will only believe it when driving it home from Silverstone and seeing it in my garage. It's come to the point where the few people that know I ordered an Emira is now thinking I'm full of shit, because I have nothing to show for it.
"I should get delivery in 2 years, I'm being honest!"
"SURE YOU ARE. I THOUGHT YOU WERE GETTING IT NEXT YEAR, NOW IT'S 2 YEARS FROM NOW? Next year it's 3 years from now. Yeah okay, we believe you."
Didn't think it was possible for a car manufacturer to make me look bad, lol.
When I ordered my 2020 M2 Competition in mid 2019, it took only 6 months from order to delivery with constant communication from my dealer/sales guy.I get asked all the time have you got the car yet, you said you were getting it in March. Yes I know what you mean. I have had many new cars with no problem at all. Even in 2004 I ordered a Caterham 7 R300 in kit form in January, delivered in April and took 9 days to build. I had many phone calls from them. They even gave me a film of photos of the stages of build done at the factory prior to delivery. Just shows a small company can communicate with their customers. When I ordered my 2020 M2 Competition in mid 2019, it took only 6 months from order to delivery with constant communication from my dealer/sales guy.
Man those were the good ole days.
With Lotus, I know what I signed up for, so I have no choice but to be patient. With the occasional rant.
Have you told them about your imaginary friends on the internet, who are also all getting delivery “soon”?It's come to the point where the few people that know I ordered an Emira is now thinking I'm full of shit, because I have nothing to show for it.

Perhaps they are looking at doing an S1 Esprit. First shown at the Turin motor show in November 1972 with first customer car being delivered in mid to late 1976. So, another 3 years to go then guys.Have you told them about your imaginary friends on the internet, who are also all getting delivery “soon”?

Maybe the first customer was Rowan Atkinson, and he got over-excited and instantly crashed it...Windle is clearly full of craap, 6 weeks since we saw the first customer car rolling off the production line.
I dont have a problem with waiting but do have a problem being lied to.
*takes deep breaths*
Nice one! unfortunately no one will understand your sense of humour as they have no clue who Rowan Atkinson isMaybe the first customer was Rowan Atkinson, and he got over-excited and instantly crashed it...
Except we didn't see it rolling off the production line, we saw it parked up in an inspection bay and have no idea how complete it actually was.Windle is clearly full of craap, 6 weeks since we saw the first customer car rolling off the production line.

'We will produce no car before its time.'Except we didn't see it rolling off the production line, we saw it parked up in an inspection bay and have no idea how complete it actually was.
The problems seem to relate to producing customer car #2 and onwards. If they'd even built the first 20 I think we'd have heard about it by now.
It’s still “lying” though, isn’t it.Except we didn't see it rolling off the production line, we saw it parked up in an inspection bay and have no idea
