I knew it was a bad idea to leave my Tesla and Emira alone in the garage.
I will have to disagree. Once Chinese manufacturing took over appliances they went to crap. Appliances used to last decades, now you are lucky to get a couple years. Very low standards with very little support or warranty. To replace a part, you are required to buy a complete assembly.Whenever I get into a BYD from Grab (Uber) in Asia I'm shocked at how awesome they are... incredible tech and build quality. I have a Model X Plaid and these things make it seem like ancient technology - definitely understand why they are banned from import here they would put every car manufacturer out of business
Public service announcement:I knew it was a bad idea to leave my Tesla and Emira alone in the garage.
they're both fallacies...that "Chinese" means poor quality, and that "US cars suck". Obviously both are untrue. I love my Model X Plaid, 1000+hp it destroys everything on the street and drives itself...a true marvel. But the high end Chinese EV's? even better, more tech, more comfortable, more luxurious, cheap as hell. And it's made in a completely unfair environment where the gov't and its relationships with corporations are different than the US. iPhones are made in China because of the same reason, just a very different equation of labor cost and a need for very high technology. Yes there is no universe where companies like BYD or Xiaomi can enter our market at the prices they actually are, it's absolutely shocking what you could get for your money. Tesla quality is way better now after about 3 generations...my first Model X was ok, lots broke on it. The refresh models are light years better, but any garden variety german car is quieter and more luxurious - but that's not really why a Tesla is a Tesla. Where I live (Los Angeles) EVEN in this politicized atmosphere Tesla love is abundant...every third car in LA is a Tesla people love them. I would prefer more competition but they're the only viable game in town in the US.I will have to disagree. Once Chinese manufacturing took over appliances they went to crap. All the bells and whistles mean more thing to brake.
Not saying many Us cars are better (pretty mediocre actually)
Lots of hate for Tesla around but I just do not really understand the hate.
I have owned 2 Tesla. Have had only 2 minor issues. Mechanically supper solid. Never stranded or broken down.
I have had 2 Tesla issues. Failed turn signal button and a failed window motor. I do not see them abandoned on the road or pilling up junk yards.
Only real problems I have seen is on fit and finish but no worse than any McLaren, VW, GM etc
All true statements. You make some good points. Thank youthey're both fallacies...that "Chinese" means poor quality, and that "US cars suck". Obviously both are untrue. Tesla makes great EVs, but beyond that the US auto industry just isn't globally competitive. If you put aside niche models like the Mustang or Corvette, Europeans stopped buying US cars decades ago. Ford now has only a 3.3% market share in Europe.they're both fallacies...that "Chinese" means poor quality, and that "US cars suck".

Sure, the Chinese copy other brand's design language, but is the Chinese car industry really "unfair"? We say that because we can't compete with them. It's what little kids yell when they lose at sports . . . "they cheated!!".
In 2008, long before the Chinese cars were around, the US auto industry was already a complete basket case and was being wiped out by the Japanese. The US government had to lend them over $80 Billion to stay in business, and GM and Chrysler still ended up going into Chapter 11. $80 Billion in government loans . . . isn't that "unf
Where did you get information that China requires no pay back? In fact, EV competition in China is so intensive that more than a few brands have already been out of business just like any capitalist market. Don't just get your information from the mainstream western media, dig deeper and you will see too many things are not what they said they are.
US car makes paid back $60 billion. Still not great (banks robbed us blind with bailouts) but China requires no pay back.
US did have "cash for clunkers" a political waste of money and pretty much a bailout.
US also subsidized EVs which I do not agree with.
politicians will be politicians, but China takes it to the next level
So you’re saying that I should trust the China state controlled media?Where did you get information that China requires no pay back? Another propaganda by the western media lolSo you’re saying that I should trust the China state controlled media?
I’m no fan on the mainstream media, but I’m really not a fan of state owned media.
