Picked up the Emira in San Diego on Wednesday, 29 January. On ~ 5-hour drive home to Santa Barbara, the car went into limp mode with the EBS (?) warning. Stopped for dinner and restarted with error message gone.

On Saturday, 1 February, the trunk (boot) would not open with the key-fob or the button in dash lower left (USA). I finally got it open after 10 minutes by holding the fob trunk release button down and pulling up hard on the trunk. Good thing because I had a bag full of hot breakfast to-go inside! I took it for a drive on highway 101 and back on 154 later Saturday and had a blast. Drives like a dream!

Now, I'm just having difficulties getting the factory-installed ScorpionTrack system to register. It's the "emails not received issue" as others here have posted. I emailed ScorpionTrack for help and hope to get that resolved soon.

A big thank you too all who are posting the helpful advice here. I hope to do the same for others. Great to have this forum!

Hey Randall. Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new wheels. The trunk issue is one I experienced, but later determined it was caused by a key fob cover, which accidentally activated the "open trunk" mechanism while I handled it or (moreso) put the fob in my pocket. If the trunk isn't "fully closed/opened", then it becomes non-responsive to both the fob and interior "trunk open" switch and remains partially unlocked, bringing up the annoying "yellow warning light" on the dash, which changes to the "red warning light" once you put the vehicle in gear. I'm describing a V6 manual transmission and assume it's the same for your automatic.

You can sometimes get the trunk to open, after repeated tries (like you got yours open) however I found the easiest way was to use the trunk release "pull loop" under the rear side panel, just behind the driver's seat, which loop works 100% of the time. I posted a description on another thread, how to find/ID that loop, especially because my car had a black colored loop, rather than the red one described in the owner's manual. Others also found theirs to be black.

And don't be shy about "slamming" the trunk shut, otherwise it might again be in that in between closed/open limbo.

Consider using that "manual/emergency trunk release" if you have the same problem again. Then if it repeats, have your dealer check it out on warranty. Some others have had their trunk release mechanism found to be defective and replaced. Not me: I replaced my key fob cover and haven't had an issue since then, even when putting the fob in my pocket.

Best of luck with any other "Emira new-vehicle growing pains" and getting them resolved. I expect you'll find solving any minor issues to be worth the ++ fun drive you've already discovered.
