New Seat ? may be ????

It wouldn't make sense for these to be the seats. Lotus said repeatedly the roadshow seats weren't the final units, and @TomE and others who visited Hethel said the seats they saw there were different from those seen in the dynamic prototype that was shown at Goodwood and the roadshow events. I sat in those at the New Jersey event and they were not great. They were pillowy, tall, fit the thighs poorly and lacked the bolster support I expected. My 2014 BMW 3 series wagon (a very "Dad" car) has better sport seats than that.

The seats in the OP's image appear identical to the "wrong/bad" prototype model, right down to the location of the seams. Surely they can't be the lower, better-bolstered, 12-way "sport" First Edition seats that we've been promised. Here are the roadshow car's seats... other than the lack of two-tone and logo, it seems to be the same as what's above.

They look more bolstered. Difficult to see from front on view. But defo more bolstered than the show car and look leaner.
Got a base 992 feel to them

After studying the images, I think you may be right. Other than the color, they do look about the same. I wonder if the tan and ice seats are test samples, for training purposes to train the assembly line workers on how to set-up, install and handle the seats without damaging them. It would make sense instead of using actual production seats.

Based on these photos, I can't see it. These appear to be the same seats, likely from the same supplier.

We were told pretty clearly that the production seats were from a different supplier and had an improved design compared to the prototype seats which were "very not final", too tall, etc. The seat base height was also described as 20mm lower which is a ton, ergonomically speaking.

On top of all that, the configurator (even the revised one) shows seats with a visually distinct design that's slightly different from these. Three embossed seat back center marks, etc.

Maybe. I don't know what to believe anymore, myself included 🤪😅

I mean, I'm the one that is in that conversation. Are you trying to point something out?

Pretty weird for the guy to act like I was criticizing him personally, though. I'm just scratching my head about the fact that the seats in his photo aren't materially different from what we've all seen a thousand times since last July, and that's not what we've been led to expect.

They may be for training, since they're adding a second shift.
Could be a possibility with the tan seat that they are for training , but the ice colored white/grey seats behind still have the plastic covers and also have the large paper production tag/paper also attached, ..... so most likely the ice grey seats are not for training and yet they seem identical to the tan seat in front.

I speculate these seats shown are not drastically different than the one from the show car.

I sat in the grey show car in Manhattan NYC. I myself personally had zero complaints regarding the show cars seats, but i never track any cars I own.

I am just a GT grand tour guy. To me the seats were fine with no complaints

It looks like the tan seat is hooked up to some kind of platform rig; probably to test out the adjustments to make sure they work properly.

What I meant for training was they could be using these for trainees to practice installing seats in a car on the production line. They've got to learn how to do that at some point. Maybe Lotus just wanted seats in all the sample colors, just to see the colors.

When you look at the side bolsters of the seat back, that one area pointing to the camera, it looks lumpy. Upon closer examination, these don't look like production seats. The fit and finish looks like mock-up quality.

I literally just walked out of the Lotus Cars HQ after talking in detail to the the Australian Lotus Cars Director. He attended Hethel only 3 weeks ago, and I could see the joy in what he saw whilst there. Such a stellar guy whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for a while in owning a couple of Lotus cars prior. I could have chatted for hours but was only there for 20mins and had to dash.

In short don’t fret about the seats, Lotus have spent a significant amount of time and have used 7 different types of foams to arrive at the final production seats. The supplier for the seat frame are the exact people whom supply the Ferrari seats. Yes had that 100% confirmed. With laser sharp stitching and finishing which has been applied in manufacturing the final product.

He also added when he was there Henry Catchpole was out on track shooting the review for Carfection, and to say the car sounded fantastic was an understatement. His words “when I first heard the car screaming I thought it was the Evora 430 out there but it was the Emira”…

Not long to go and can’t wait to see all reviews starting next week…. 😊

A bit of insight for the type 132, it will blow peoples mind. In terms of market firsts lt has 9 patents relevant to the car alone.

He walked away with zero trepidation in having the suv manufactured in China. Rest assured it has 100% been designed from the ground up in the Uk. Exciting times ahead for this company and I’m glad to continue to be a part of their journey.

No course not. Simply if it is a photo of the production line from this week
