After being parked up overnight, car will start fine, but then drive somewhere, leave for a short while (maybe an hour or so) car will then not start - fuel pump goes, but no start. lock car and unlock a couple of times, then it will start, but then I have an engine light. If I then do 5 or 6 'warm starts' the engine light will go out. Occasionally it will come back, but mostly it only comes back with the non start issue.. Dealer says a fix from 'bosch' is coming in January/Feb. Car is 18 months old, and only started doing this about a month ago...

Todd from Everyday Driver on YouTube had the exact same issue with his Emira. Pretty sure a software update fixed it.

Dealer said wait or call out Lotus Assistance - gonna get the code read and see what it says - just wondered if anyone else had the same...

Is it this?

There are a couple of similar issues mentioned… sure I have waited for CarPlay to connect and it still wouldn’t start…. But will make sure I do next time….

Ignore the CarPlay Internet thing.

My old car had this but seemingly fixed by the dealer and now my new car has it to.

I have this issue. It only started after my first year service and all the software patches.
I have subsequently been told this by Lotus

  1. The guideline we have given the dealers if this rare occasion happens is to allow a minimum of 27 seconds between unlocking the car and starting the engine.

it seems to be a synchronisation problem between 3 modules that’s causing the issue.

I'm pretty sure I do - I am going to try the unlock - lock - unlock before I get in to see if that helps....

Wait until the car has fully booted up and connected to internet, then push the button.

The issue is communication timing between the TCM/VDDM/ECM. Doesn't need internet connection.
Wait 27 seconds is the advice from Lotus. This may of course, give the car time to connect to the internet, but that's not the issue.
