North America Emira Experiences

WalMart platinum AGM batteries are made by the same top two suppliers you get behind the other name brands. 4 year warranty too. Working well in my Vantage and E39. Very well priced!
+1 for Walmart AGM. The last H6 battery AGM and another AGM one I got from Walmart said "made in Germany". Have a 4 or 5 year warranty too. What I plan to put in our 911 when the OEM factory one dies (been in there 10 years)

That is useful information…I have that same fault that showed up as soon as I picked up my car from service. It went away after driving for a while, but came back this morning. I’m guessing that they did not put it on a trickle charger while it sat waiting to be serviced over the last 3+ weeks.
I must have jinxed it, cause the check engine light came on today. I will see if it is still there by Monday. If so, I will have Autozone read the code. Then if I have to disconnect the battery (which is a pain for the left terminal), I will. Frustrating though.

For what its worth, my Check Engine Light came on last week. I drove it for a few hours straight and the next day, alas, no check engine light. I think it is the battery being drained from the boat trip, sitting at the dealership, etc. I was driving it a little here and there, but it was only after several hours of driving I think it had a chance to charge up. It also seems like there might be a delay after it senses the battery is low, and when it realizes it is recovered before it actually shuts the light off. The only other thing that happened around that time was that it was very humid, but I suspect it was not this, rather the battery issue.

My CEL is now a new code. P0446 which is exhaust evap leak. Car runs fine, just could not pass emissions inspection. I have to take it to the dealer to get fixed. Not in a hurry but still frustrating.

A P0446 error code indicates an evaporative emission control system (EVAP) vent control circuit malfunction. Simply put, the computer has detected an issue regarding the functionality of your vehicle's EVAP system vent valve.

Great info! I ordered an ODB scanner from Amazon for $30. Guess I'll check this out to make sure its not the same issue.

I had my Emira out for its first track day today…It was great, not the best car I’ve had on track, but in my top 3. With Cup 2 tires (I ordered the Goodyears for more street miles) it will be in my top 2…My 2016 GT4 would still be my favorite track car (I still regret selling that car). The Emira’s steering was fantastic - much better on track than on the street. (I feel like it is a bit too light on center during normal driving). The brakes are phenomenal (but I’m going to go through pads and rotors quickly!).

I have another track day on Wednesday - I will push the car much harder now that I have a good feel for it. Stay tuned!

Looking forward to more track use feedback! Which track? How many laps? Running stock fluid? Any brake fade? How'd the F1s hold up?

Blackhawk Farms Raceway…a group of us rent the track out every month during season for a private group of 15 or so people. No run groups - just off an on as we see fit. I don’t count laps, but I went on track 5 times or so for about 10-15 minutes each time. My best lap time today was 1:21:XX - so that translates to about 45 laps.

Stock fluids - no fade at all. I didn’t check to see what DOT spec brake fluid comes with the car, but will flush and refill with Hi-Temp brake fluid when I replace rotors. [Edit - I checked the owner’s manual…standard brake fluid is DOT 4, so it comes equipped with Hi-Temp brake fluid.]

The F1s were decent when the warmed up and broken in a bit. Still, the Cup 2 tires are way better track tires - I will use them for my next set of tires. I’ve had Cup 2s on a few of my cars and they are much better (except in the wet).

Just got my car yesterday. Had it delivered by covered carrier. Weather was overcast and about to rain, so I put it straight into the garage.

Woke up this morning to blue skies and bright sun, so took the car out.

My first impressions:

This was the first time I’d actually seen one, and it looks even better in person than in pictures or videos. I was expecting the interior to be nice, but it really looks and smells good. Doesn’t look cheap or slapped together.

Shift knob is much smaller than I was expecting. It’s also very cold in the morning! I think I’m going to upgrade to a bigger one.

Heater works good.

Seats felt comfortable, not soft but not rock hard either.

I had previously owned a 1972 Lotus Europa Twincam, so the close pedals and pedal position felt very familiar. The car feels like a bigger ‘grown up’ version of my old Europa. Had no problem adjusting to them.

Clutch is firm but didn’t feel heavy. Brakes are amazing. The first half inch of travel feels normal, then instantly it’s a hard stop. I’m starting to adjust to it but at first it was wow!!

The engine sound in tour mode is good; not too rowdy, which is good for not annoying the neighbors when I start it up. The exhaust note is nice and crisp. The sound quality of the factory exhaust is actually pretty good.

The forward view is great; you don’t feel boxed in at all. Sideview mirrors do a nice job of covering what you need to see. Rear view is of course small, but that’s to be expected.

Dashboard is very clear and easy to see, even on a sunny day. Backup camera is really good; very clear with good detail and wide view.

This is the first time I’ve had a car with a non-analog style dash (digital or otherwise) and it’s going to take some getting used to. When I glance down, my eye is instinctively looking for round gauges, and it takes me a second or two to readjust. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but it would have been nice if the fuel bar was green, and the water temp bar was red. Everything being monochrome makes it not as quick to recognize the status of the info the gauge is showing. I would also like some hash marks on the bars to show where the bar is in the total range. There’s no way to tell how close I am to a full tank, or not.

When the engine is warmed up, water temp seems to stabilize at 185 degrees.

I have the Tour chassis with Goodyears, and it feels plenty taut. In fact that’s the way the whole car feels; taut. No mush or sloppiness. Doors close with a solid thunk. Steering is taut but not too much. Clutch is taut. Seating is taut. The whole car feels solid and well put together. The tour chassis feels like it’s going to be good for a wide range of road conditions.

Tire noise varies quite a bit depending on the road surface. Engine sounds good; not headache-inducing. I was expecting the supercharger whine to be more pronounced based on videos I’d watched, but it isn’t nearly as much as I was expecting. It’s there, but more subtle. I don’t see the sound level being a problem on a long trip.

The steering wheel shape doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, once I started driving I hardly even noticed it. It’s not very big, but I found the overall size to be just about right. I have fairly big hands, so the rim thickness didn’t feel too thick at all. I have the leather wheel. There are two nice bumps at 10:00 and 2:00 for your thumbs, and slight indents behind them for your fingers. Makes it easier and more comfortable to hold those hand positions.

Heater and A/C work good.

The car looks special and feels special to be in it. So far so good!

Glad it's finally yours to experience and enjoy.

Happy Friday all! Thought I'd post a picture of my family hauler (left) and my fun car (right) when I finally had them backed out into the driveway together to setup a bounce house for my little one in the garage:

Also, here's a little video of my 2 year old getting to fire up the Emira for the first time. She still can't "ride" in it but she now insists that I let her "park it" whenever I move it from the garage to the driveway:

Her expression is priceless! I'll probably have the same one every time I start up mine!

Great video!

And a great place to live with a Lotus. I lived in SW Cary for a few years in the early 2000's and would take my Lotus 7 out for drives in the country on the perfect roads without potholes or frost heaves. The weather was good almost year round. I still miss it!

Been taking my 2 year old out in the Emira. She absolutely loves it. I took her to a summer "camp" a few times at a nearby church and it's pretty funny to see all the moms and dads in their SUVs and minivans and then little Maddie hop out of the Emira. The other parents love it, too :)

Biggest challenge? Every time I give it some gas she yells "MOOOOOOOREEEE"
