ah gotchaThe video is from china. LYO badge
Such a horrific story. I am still in the break in period for my Dark Horse which is running Trofeo RS tires. I went out last week and in the morning (55 degrees & damp road) turned to get on the interstate and the front wheels tramlined and the back end slid out 1 foot at 20 MPH. But I know, I respect the hell out of summer tires. The reports are that the driver did die. I wonder if he broke traction with that aggressive gear shift and never really got traction back. No details on the temperature either.
My post edited. Thank youThere are two different stories here. One in China (the video) the other in Europe (one fatality)
Track Mode has:Can the TC be turned off completely? In my test drive of the V6 I thought it wasn't as planted as I was expecting. The sales person told me that a previous punter on the test drive had spun the car on acceleration. Just left me with a slightly unsettled feeling about the good manners of the car under power. I've not heard that reported, so it may not be a thing, but have there been many crashes-under-power do we know?
It really has the best options. Both a track optimized ESC and complete off.Track Mode has:
Optimised traction and corner exit
characteristics with reduced ESC
intervention.
Also ESC can be turned off:
ESC ‘Off’
(Track use only)
This can be selected in any drive mode.
When selected ESC functions are
deactivated.
Not forgetting:
WARNING: Lotus recommends that
ESC should always be active when
driving on public roads in normal
conditions.
Can tell be the engine note it’s an i4. My guess is Cup2 and or TC off. Had that happen to us with a buddy in university who had an S2000 on a highway during a flash downpour at night…car suddenly whipped the same way and did a 720 at full speed, blessed to walk away without a scratch on ourselves or the car…(he had cruise control on). Car came to rest on the centre shoulder inches from the barrier facing oncoming traffic.A lot of cars were delivered with Cup 2 tyres in China, most demo cars were cup 2. In fact, if you ordered a V6 manual in China, it came sport with Cup 2, no other option.
Scary but makes sense to happen with cruise control. Some of the early s2000s didn’t have any TC and having the car auto-accelerate regardless of traction is a bit dicey. Might have felt the car moving and reacted to it sooner had cruise control not been engaged. Can tell be the engine note it’s an i4. My guess is Cup2 and or TC off. Dashcam shows February and the guy taking a photo in the background appears to have bulky upper body (ie big coat) and skinny legs, plus majority of Emira buyers are in the Yangtze delta (Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou etc. which had a cod winter this year) so I'd say probably 0-5 degrees celsius.Such a horrific story.
