P1302 - cylinder 2 misfire

I’ve had my Emira for 8500+ miles and it’s been pretty dang great to this point outside of needing all new o2 sensors when I first got the car. It’s starting to get super cold on the east coast and this morning I got an alert that my battery is getting low on the Emira (fitted with an antigravity and in checking the battery level it’s at 69%). I haven’t driven it in a few weeks which is unusual for me as I normally drive it every few days so I usually don’t use a tender.

When I go to start the car, it struggles to start and I’m hit with the reduce engine speed warning. Right after, I get a p1302 which is cylinder 2 misfire and the engine does not sound good. It’s running rough. At the same time, I also get a check brake service warning.

I turn off the car, check out the engine and everything seems ok. I start the car again and it’s running like normal. I’ve had issues with faulty o2 sensors before (which is why they were swapped out) but could this be the damn o2 sensors causing issues? Maybe low battery issues? I know lotus cars are notorious for doing weird things when battery gets low.

I’ve cleared the code and have driven around for 30 min and no more issues, including turning on and off the car and it’s driving perfectly fine

I had a "cylinder 6 misfire"on my Mercedes which turned out to be a defective #6 ignition coil, fixed after replacement. I'm assuming you didn't recently wash your Emira, with the colder weather you had, so it's not a moisture intrusion problem. Perhaps a loose #2 ignition coil connection? Maybe check your connections. Or by the sounds of it, hopefully your problem has disappeared and everything's AOK now?

After turning the car off and back on it hasn’t come back and it’s been workkng perfectly normal after an hour of driving. I’ll continue to check on it but maybe it was a low battery. I’m hearing low battery can give new cars all type of faults

The evora is hyper sensitive to a low battery, I’ve no doubt your car is totally fine and you just need to drive it more and keep it on a tender

Update here- started the car the next day with no issues and drove it around for a while and all normal. Spoke to my lotus dealer and they confirmed that lotus cars are super sensitive to low batteries and that evoras/emiras from the factory are mapped to run rich and in the cold weather make it worst which could attribute to running rough.

End result is all is well and just need to remember to keep it on a tender if not driving foot a few weeks
