Does anyone have an idea that till when the Emira will be produced?

I heard the news that the upcoming G87 M2 will be made until 2029, then how about for the Emira?

In all honesty I think you lot are absolutely bonkers, buy the bloody car or don't, guess non of you have a delivery date or put down any form of deposit. Its Friday again and Im reviewing the same stuff and I have a few beers so apologies.

Suggestion - set ups a forum exclusively for people who are getting their cars in the next 3 months, so we can discuss proper stuff i.e. driving it. All you lot do is wait to see who gets a car and then expect us to spill our guts, photos so you can make a decision.

Anyway, my weekly rant over

Well, for some people, buying a car like this is like collecting watches - they may already have a well-stocked garage and they want to get a "good one" and can wait. Not for me, I sold my fun car a year ago and I need a replacement. If Lotus comes out with a far superior Emira further down the line that makes it attractive to me, I can buy one of those and sell this "early edition". It won't be the first or even the second time I bought a newer year of the same generation car.

Current product plan is to 2030, when sale of petrol cars stops in UK. But there are other factors.

It's likely the V6 will be phased out around 2025-26 when new EU emissions regulations come in to force and the V6 won't comply.

The Type 135 EV sportscar launches in 2025 and will be built at Hethel alongside the Emira. That's a joint venture with Alpine and it's possible Lotus may also build the Alpine variant alongside the Lotus one, which would require more of Hethel's capacity.

If the demand for EVs picks up strongly then Lotus will change the production split to build fewer Emiras and more EVs. We're already seeing some manufacturers declaring no more petrol versions available to order after a date much earlier than 2030. So I think the Emira could stop any time between 2025 and 2030.
I tend to agree, around 2025 the focus will be squarely aimed at the type 135, so im not so sure there will even be a `S or gt version Emira.
why would Lotus spend any more time or money to further develop a car that will be discontinued shortly after.
i fear the Emira as great as it is will just be a prelude to the main event which will be all electric:unsure:

EVO have stated there will be a GT model in 2024. Take from that what you will.
The fact the launch Emira now has (has always had?) 394bhp seems to suggest there will be a GT430 and maybe even a middle ground GT410 launched.
I would be suprised if as a model in continues past 2025

I believe Evo have already commented that there will be a 430 HP version and I think they would only do that if they were told directly by Lotus.
The work for the 430... version is virtually already done with the GT version that already exists, so I think we can be 99% it will happen in some guise., we can also summize it will cost around 100k or maybe more and that maybe more than the 718 GT4 RS ST thing that already exists and most say thats the best car ever built (within reason).

I too would consider selling the FE to get a more potent version, but if it has a big spoiler on it, that is literally a big SPOILER for me and not so interested and I think you could do your own mods for a fraction of the cost and have virtually the same car.
Another reason they will do it, this car is selling well, but in 3 4 years, it wont be for many reasons. Other cars will enter the fray, maybe not ICE, but stunning looking cars all the same and at that point and at petrol prices not showing any sign of reducing, and with Governments taxing to hell and back ICE cars, people really wont be so keen on ICE cars, plus, in another few years, I feel pretty sure they will be outlawed in most major cities and limits...
MANY many things can happen, but the car wont look as stunning in 5 years, when the new lotus, jaguar and porsche and alpine and alfa are out there....

Lotus had already said there would be a GT version around 2024, which is what EVO are confirming too. That will be V6 based, then that goes and any further development will be on the i4.

I know everyone keeps saying how tuneable the i4 is, but it’s already been a challenge to deal with thermal management in the Emira. So I don’t think we can assume Lotus will jump straight to a 500hp version in 2025. It’s possible, but requires development not just tuning.
