While I was stopped in traffic on the way to Goodwood FoS last Thursday it started raining. This was the first time my car had been out in the rain since picking it up on 21st April. I noticed in my rear view mirror water coming in and splashing and dripping down the window in the bulkhead. Anyone else had this? The seal between the top of the boot/engine cover and the rear of the roof looks ok but I'm sure this shouldn't happen.

I think you are correct, that should not occur. Sorry to see this, hope it is an easy seal fix......

Definitely needs sorting. Mine is okay from what I can tell. However, opening the boot when wet is starting to annoy me. Water either goes in the boot or all over the engine. I know you have to open it slightly to let it drain, but it's never 100%. Going to the gym in the morning and I'm starting to put my bag in the passenger footwell. It's the only downside about this car imo.

Been looking at the alignment of the boot. The actual tail is spot on but I noticed today that the top left corner of the glass sits lower than the top right - I'm sure the rain was predominantly coming in from the left hand side. I;m sure it can be adjusted - just hope it doesn't mess the rest of it up!

Sorry to see this.
Hope Lotus fixes it properly fast.

Btw, did you take any photos or movies when you picked up her? If so, you can refer how the boot was on the day. It may help to save your time if Lotus find their own fault.

You'll want to seal off those vents on both sides of the rear glass, as they too let water in the engine compartment when it rains.

i have the same problem i took it to my dealer in california USA and they told me Lotus will not fix the problem. they said Lotus thinks the rear hatch is properly aligned, so they wont allow the dealer to do work on the rear hatch. i dont believe water should drip into the engine compaertment when it rains

UPDATE!!! I just spoke to Dave Simkin, the Lotus USA service advisor. He told me he would look into why the water is leaking. He said Lotus NEVER advised my dealer not to perform the work to correct this problem. My dealer lied to me about Lotus refusing to perform the work. My dealer never even contacted Lotus to ask their advice. Dave Simkin was very responsive to my problem.

Dealers and dealer service centers just lie all the time, I never take them at their word.
