Removing exposed shifter mesh on V6 manual

Have any current Emira owners tried removing the mesh around the exposed gear mechanism yet and how easy is it to do?

I feel like it distracts from the visual a bit, so if easy to remove, I would definitely do it.

Can’t imagine that would effect any warranty’s etc …….

The mesh is there for a reason. To keep things out. Eg chicken nuggets etc and the odd curious passenger finger.

From the parts catalog it looks like the opening under the gaiter is round.

@Aerie is making a replacement from piece for the top and around the linkage but they don't think it's possible to trim the top the way @Porter pictured in post 12.

Where is the info on the Aerie? Did they make a post?

@Porter there's been discussion in the Carbon Fiber Bits thread but I've been communicating with them. Hope to have the first cage delete in time to install on my car.
