I just got my i4 and was not given a paper owner's manual, nor advised by my dealer about the proper break-in procedure. I did some digging on Lotus' site and found this in the owner's manual so wanted to share here. The CYA they included about 'downloading engine data' seems a bit odd. Also, note that we are not supposed to use any mode other than 'tour' for the 1st 1000 miles. This is going to be the longest 1000 miles in my life. :)

You aren't supposed to run it continuously above 4k rpm for the first 1,000 miles. You can moderately rev it above that now and then. Just don't start flooring it until the engine and trans has broken in

I just keep it under 1/2 throttle and let the engine does whatever it want. It will rev over 4K when accelerating but long as it doesn't run at over 4K constantly, you're fine.
