Sat Nav Map Update

How does the Sat Nav update, Is it updating it’s self or does it have to be dealer updated, Or can it be something I can do. I don’t know if this as been asked before so apologies if I am repeating a question already asked.

As far as I am aware, nothing can be updated OTA, so to get the map updated it will need a dealership visit
Doubt it will be free either.
