Speed limiter, cruise control and ADAS

Wasn't it Gavan that said (it may have been in the Smoking Tire interview) that the ADAS functions in the chipset they had didn't comply with the new regulations for 2023, so they had to pull it from the V6 FE, but they'd be getting the new chipset that would be able to comply, so they'd be able to include it as an option for the cars produced afterwards. I wasn't sure if he meant the i4 FE's would have it included, or it would be included as a choosable option. Maybe both.

Likely to be standard on the i4 FE and cost option on Base Edition but still not officially confirmed, as it's affected by chip supply.

I received my emails yesterday along with a number of you, but no call yet so I'm assuming that will be next week. Did anybody clarify the extent of ADAS? If, as previously, the features can be turned off, then it's not an issue for me, but, if they're now a fixed feature, I'm specifically thinking speed limiter and lane assist, then it certainly is. It's probable that LCC don't have a definitive response to that question anyway and I'll need to ask elsewhere.
As the silence is deafening, I found this on Parker's website.

Taking a very brief look at the EU regulation (https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/bette...rocedures-for-intelligent-speed-assistance_en) it would appear that the requirements relate to vehicles receiving type approval from such date, rather than all "new cars" sold after such date so the impact, certainly for EU type approval purposes, depends whether EU type approval was given prior to such date.

Now going to look for the UK adoption of the EU regulation (sat on my mobile whilst on holiday so scanning regs is not the easiest...)

This could be why Lotus switched tactics and went for EU type approval first, before UK, to secure EU approval before the deadline date for intelligent speed limiter.

The process for a GB provisional type approval (which appears to be the scheme implemented on exit from the EU) is described here: https://www.vehicle-certification-a...ype-approval-in-the-uk/provisional-gb-scheme/

So I would assume Lotus is piggy backing off the EU approval by following this process.

That was my interpretation based on what Lotus told me in January and what we've seen and heard recently.

Does anyone know if there been any change to ADAS availability particularly in the FE I4? I see mention of new regulations in 2023 and was under the impression that i4 might be available as a 2023 model.

Cue the "I wouldn't be caught dead with the hideous ADAS sensor in the front!!!" or "What yr are we living in...how is ADAS not standard in FE cars????" crowd in 3...2...1...
:p
Thank you for that reply about 80% or more throttle. I may not have pressed hard enough to override the limit, not knowing about 80%! Will try next time out.

@TomE I think you might want to move that reply to the other thread of his, seems like @Carew is a little lost :D (and delete mine)
