As one of the last petrol-powered cars from the iconic British brand Lotus, the Emira has garnered significant anticipation since its debut. We conducted a 0-100 km/h acceleration test on the 2.0T turbocharged 360hp version, and the result perfectly matched the official figure: 4.3 seconds, no exaggeration.

Test Conditions

To ensure the test results were as close to real-world driving scenarios as possible, we used pure stock settings with the following conditions:

  • Mode Settings: Launch Control was enabled, and the car was set to Track Mode.
  • Gear Operation: The entire run was performed in D mode, allowing the car to handle gear changes automatically.
  • Test Environment: The test was conducted on a dry asphalt surface with moderate temperature and humidity.

Driving Experience and Test Details

The acceleration process was impressively linear. The Launch Control performed well at the start, delivering power with precision. However, during the shift from first to second gear, the rear wheels experienced a slight hop, likely due to the 360hp output reaching the limits of traction. Despite this, the overall performance remained stable, with no sense of hesitation.

The test car was equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which demonstrated excellent shift logic, ensuring quick gear changes within the optimal power range. This played a crucial role in achieving the official 0-100 km/h acceleration figure with remarkable accuracy.

360hp vs. 400hp: The Gap

The test results left us reflecting on the difference between the 360hp Emira and the 400hp cars that effortlessly enter the sub-4-second club. This highlights the importance of horsepower figures in high-performance vehicles. The additional 40hp provided by a 400hp model not only enhances top speed but also further shortens acceleration times—an undoubtedly attractive feature for performance enthusiasts.

Notes

During the test, we noticed an error in the water temperature gauge, which appears to be an isolated issue. This had no impact on the accuracy of the acceleration data, so owners need not worry.

Conclusion

The 0-100 km/h test of the Lotus Emira 2.0T gave us deeper insights into the performance of this sports car. The 360hp delivers a well-balanced power output, allowing it to excel in both corners and straight lines. While the appeal of 400hp models hitting sub-4-second times is undeniable, the Emira’s lightweight chassis and exceptional handling make the 360hp version a very compelling option.
