Tariffs on Emira in US?

Desperately trying not to pick on you @Eagle7, but you should be aware that Trump isn’t playing nicely (or rationally) at all. Australia has zero tariffs on US imports, but Trump has implemented a 25% tariff on our aluminium and steel exports to the US. And he’s looking to add other tariffs to the mix.

Australia has always been a friend and ally, as has Canada and Mexico. This aggressive protectionism is absolutely a slap in the face. It’s going to take a lot to mend the relationship once Trump leaves office.

You're not picking on me. I don't mind a civil conversation. Yes Trump is not playing nicely which was my point about him learning from his first term and not playing that game anymore.

The situation is far more serious than people realize because everything appears to be somewhat normal right now. The globalists have been and are trying to break the U.S. dollar as a world currency standard, so they can shift the power to the BRICS group. If you don't know who that is, BRICS is an intergovernmental organization consisting of ten countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. (If you happen to be familiar with Biblical prophecy, you'll be very interested in that particular number and how it relates to a description of a statue in the Book of Daniel Chapter 2, and the Book of Revelation Chapter 13).

If the dollar collapses, we go into civil war. I don't know how the scamdemic, I mean pandemic affected you in Australia, but here in the states shelves in the supermarkets emptied immediately, but things held together because we were waiting for the huge numbers of deaths we were told were going to happen. To quote a famous line from the TV show M.A.S.H. "Nobody panic until it's absolutely necessary". If the dollar collapses and the value of people's bank accounts and stock portfolios is suddenly reduced to nothing, there will be mass panic and violence. We had something similar happen here when the stock market crashed in 1929, with people committing suicide and all kinds of trouble, but that was a different population. People then were still self reliant mostly and knew how to survive off the land. It caused hard times in the Great Depression, but people today are not like people then. Today's cream puffs would just riot in a mass panic.

Don't over-react. Keep calm, carry on. Trade involves more than what we import, it also involves what we export. This is a tactic to initiate negotiations, and that's exactly what's happening.

For me this whole trade mess is a bit personal. Years ago I worked for the US State Department (as a foreign national) in Canberra while the two countries were dismantling decades of artificial trade barriers. Seeing the return to those dark old days is somewhat baffling and distressing.

Whilst I understand Trumps America first ideology (not saying I like it but I broadly get it). I don’t get why you make such decisions without what looks to be much consultation or thought (remember the ban on flights for some countries during his last term?). It feels callous and more like bullying esp when dealing with lots of your long term allies.

No-one knows if they should start trying to build more manufacture plants (which would take years) or wait as the rules will change again in a few years (or maybe even weeks).

Who would staff all of this new production and at what cost? Who pays… Americans do… Labor in the states isn’t cheap and the USA has one of the lowest unemployments rates in world but surely Trump won’t want workers coming from other countries…

Heaven forbid welcoming in all of the now out of work & highly skilled Mexican car makers!

The UK and the USA actually have very similar goods exports to and from each other (within 4% of total goods - not services). So why slap a load of tariffs on the UK that damage trade and our long term “special” relationship?

It just makes no sense to me… and sadly I haven’t even got a GT4RS in my garage to cheer myself up with!

The ban on flights was only from those countries that were openly hostile to us, and were sending terrorist groups over here to begin setting up terrorist cells for the purpose of damaging us. When you have a country (Iran) that's openly saying they want to wipe us off the face of the earth, and they're trying to develop the nuclear weapons to do it, you need to take that seriously. Naturally the media that's under the control of the globalists started screaming and demonizing Trump to stop him from stopping them. Although it hasn't been officially declared, we're basically in a thinly veiled World War 3 right now, right on the edge of flat out war. The situation in Ukraine is very volatile right now, which is why Trump is putting such a focus on defusing it.

The uncertainty you speak of is due to what was happening when the Democrats were in power. They're under the influence and control of the globalists, who want America's power reduced so they can take over the economies of the world and establish a one-world global economy, that they (coincidentally) are in total control of. No elections; they appoint themselves into power and they're in power without recourse and if ANYBODY objects, they tell the system to cancel you. Computers and digital technology is going to enable a level of world power and control that's never existed before, and once it succeeds in locking things up under the control of whoever is in charge of it, it won't be possible to stop it or be free from it.

What Trump and Musk are trying to do, is prevent that by reinforcing America's industrial and economic strength. A strong America is literally what prevents a world tyranny, although those who want that tyranny call America the tyrants, the Nazi's, the Hitler's, etc., when in fact that's the type of world system they're trying to set up.

As far as Canada and Mexico, why do you think Trump is proposing adding them to the U.S.? If they become the next 2 states, their labor force and resources become part of ours, and our military, industrial and economic strength and free market becomes part of theirs. They can keep their names. They'd be the State of Canada and the State of Mexico along with the other 50 states. They can keep their flags and their capitols. This would make it more difficult for the globalists to take over too, which is why there's such a media frenzy to demonize all this.

I know all this is troubling right now because it is, but hang in there, pray and be patient. God willing, things will work out and we can hold back the beast for awhile at least.

Until something official is worked out (and Starmer is in talks right now with Trump to do just that), we just have to wait and see what they come up with. Nobody knows yet. You can be sure U.K. manufacturers are talking to Starmer, who's talking to Trump. The U.K. is actually in somewhat of a better position right now due to Brexit because they can negotiate their own deal and probably quicker than the E.U. can or will.

I’m far from politically savvy but I’m pretty sure Trump described Mexicans as “Drug Dealers, Criminals and Rapists” and now he wants them all to be part of the USA?

From “build the wall” to “take down the wall and remove the border and invite them all in forever”… it’s a pretty big pivot.

"Voodoo mysticism"? Have you tried reading those two chapters I referred to in the Bible? Daniel's is about 2,500 years old, and the Book of Revelation was written almost 2,000 years ago. Try reading the descriptions in those two chapters I referenced, and realize how close what's happening today fits what was written that long ago. It's not even kinda sorta close, it's scary close. There's no way anyone that far back can describe our world that accurately unless they did in fact see it in a vision, or have it revealed to them in some way. That lends weight to the other things they saw that we haven't seen yet.

The pandemic scammed all of us, and massive amounts of money was moved into the pockets of the pharma companies, just to name one beneficiary. A DNA altering genetic biolab experiment being passed off as a vaccine that people were threatened with job loss or even incarceration if they refused to take it? Read up on the alarming spread of cancers and heart conditions in the young who had that injected into them. Did you bother reading up on those reports of "millions of dead bodies"? That any death was being called a covid death regardless of what other factors were involved? That during that time period San Diego suddenly didn't report a single death from flu; they were all 'covid' deaths, when normally every year they do have flu deaths? If it wasn't a scam, why not just report things truthfully and accurately?

Covid was real, what wasn't was the world apocalypse threat we were told it represented. Did you by any chance notice the special banquets that certain political and celebrity rich were having, where all their staff wore masks, but NONE of them did? I go by what I see people do, not what I'm being told I'm supposed to believe.

I hope those who want an Emira can get one, regardless, because it's a really beautiful and fun sports car to be in and drive, and I'm grateful I was able to get one. And as soon as we get past wind, rain, snow, icy weather and get some decent weather here, I want to take my car out and get some Dragy runs, then install the CCB brakes I have sitting here in boxes and do another Dragy run to see what actual difference they make.

Actually the thread is about tariffs as the title says, but I get your point and appreciate the sentiment.

I don't think Lotus (at least Hethel) is going to stop production for U.S. cars. What I expect is they'll at least apply for an exemption as a very small manufacturer in the industry they're in, and it should be granted.

And, these things will sort themselves out I think, when the various industries of each country apply pressure - and the various governments realise it isn't working properly.

Things are generally the way they are (or were before today) because that has been what has suited each country to keep the status-quo.

Just goes to show that dealers are talking out of their @ss most of the time and have no idea.

The tariffs only apply to vehicles that arrive stateside after 12:01am eastern daylight time on April 3rd according to the White House website.
