The “only say nice things” thread

Visiting the Lotus stand at Goodwood, it struck me they are one of very few manufacturers where these events are staffed by employees from development, design, production engineering, product and customer care rather than just marketing folks and temporary event-hosting contractors.

It's great to be able to talk to people like Gavan and his team, to hear directly from the people who have developed the Emira and hear their enthusiasm for the car. They had lots of people interested in the car, keen to look at it and sit in it, plus plenty of tyre-kickers and excited-looking kids - all treated with the same engagement and enthusiasm.

And of course they had plenty of deposit holders, keen to see the car (sometimes for the first time) and various polite and not so polite questions about delays and customer care. All the Lotus folks tried to answer questions and went off to find people who could answer something if they didn't know. At one point I had 4 people looking in documentation, crawling over cars and phoning back to Hethel to find answers to my (our) more obscure questions.

Enthusiastic, helpful, engaged.

It's brilliant and very worthy. But does also cause a fair amount of confusion and contradictory information as we have found out. There should be one team as the 'mouth piece' consolidating and relaying all of this info. As we know unfortunately it appears that team is the least resourced and the least in the loop with what is happening at Hethel.

My post was about how Lotus staffs events like Goodwood and the dealer roadshows with "real people". It's not perfect but the way people handled questions where the answer used to be "I'm not sure" at Goodwood was good.

I've found in the past Customer Care have taken questions and got answers from ADAS team, engineering, production etc. It's questions about the buying process and timeframes where they often don't have the latest from other Lotus teams.

In the spirit of this thread I was highlighting one thing I think is good. Plenty of posts pointing out lots of things they need to do better.

Loads, there was a queue of people paying deposits when I was there on Thursday. I also know someone put a deposit down on an Emira GT4 race car.

Can't have many v6 spots left? Not many cars getting built this year that only gives the v6 2 year production?

We don't know yet when they will close the V6 FE or V6 Base order books. As Base options pricing is due to be announced in September, my hunch is they'll close the V6 FE book soon after that and then see what the V6 Base demand looks like during Q4 before announcing any end date.

Yes just looking at build capacity? And we know the engine won't go past 2025 and I thought they already had orders for 2 years, how many more can they make.

Ah man. I didnt know we were in 'that thread'
Sorry all 😅🤐

EU7 emissions regulations only apply in Europe, so in theory they could continue selling the V6 in other markets if it still meets their local regulations.

Nice things: from all the existing reviews, the cupholders seem perfect! Nailed it.

And another shout out to Scott Walker who is a legend and actually has kept my faith in Lotus alive.. the guy lives and breathes the brand and will always try his best even if the rest of the organisation isn't supporting him

Thank you to Lotus for developing the Emira. If it wasn't for the Emira, I would have never purchased the Evora GT. A bigger thank you to this community for keeping things exciting for the last year or so. I have learned so much about Lotus and both positive/negative details about the Emira from this global community.

Lotus of Orlando has been a positive experience (Emira purchase). My local Lotus service department experience has been positive (for the Evora).

Just recapping some of the pre-production excitement...
  • Migration from the original configurator to the updated configurator
  • Exterior color debates based on samples
  • Hundreds of color rendering requests
  • Missing Ice grey sample
  • Touring vs Sports suspension debates
  • Making the FE cut or not
  • Pre-production seats
  • Freaking out when ordering FE without all the details
  • Disappearing color steering wheel stripe and stitching
  • Disappearing ADAS
  • V6 redline debate
  • V6 power debate (416 vs 400)
  • i4 power (360 vs 400 for chinese market)
  • Vehicle ride height
  • Delivery timeframe
  • First reviews
  • Rubber stripe on the hood/bonnet
  • Is that a DV? Nope...
Well... I am still looking forward to taking delivery at some point in the future (y)

Not a nice comment

althoughhhhh. ive not actually seen any cups in there and gear changes happening... but as this is the nice thread, lets assume that this is not going to be an issue at all.....

I cannot have an opinion yet, as I haven’t even seen one person, but I do trust @TomE as he has actually likely used them already.

Until I get to toss my 30oz YETI in there I will reserve my opinion. :)

Only with my “simplify and add lightness” Lotus water bottle, not with a supersized soda or grande latte :)

A friend told me that @TomE used his measurement device yesterday. He got confused and measured the thickness of the glass instead of the recipient (cupholder) itself.
Therefore the dilema of the cupholders is still unsolved!!

On the positive side, we believe Lotus nailed them!

just to be on topic with the thread!

That being the case, I assume the glass is half full.
The real question is, are they Metric?

When I explained the potential ordering delays to my wife recently (I'm one of those who ordered very late), she asked me "what if you just doubled your Emira budget and looked at a more expensive sports car that you can purchase sooner, what would you buy then?". I didn't have an answer. The truth is even at a much higher price, I can't think of a single car that makes me as excited as the Emira. I can't wait... But I'll wait and it will 100% be worth it.

And on the topic of positivity, thanks to all of the users who invest the time to post valuable information that's difficult to find elsewhere. Particularly Tom_E! I read through all of his detailed explanations over the last few weeks to get a much better grasp of the car's systems and components.
Easy. I would have bought 2
