Hi folks,

My car insurance is up for renewal in just over a month and I’ve been getting some indicative quotes for my Emira and they’re frankly absurd: £5500/year. About 8 weeks ago I was getting quotes for purchasing the car and they were around £1200 for the same inputs.

Im aware a lot of this could be down to my circumstances but they haven’t changed for a while. Has anyone else found their premiums go up an unreasonably large amount? I’m wondering if this is Emira-specific or if it’s just me.

Have you tried Compare the Market? They usually get the best price when I search. I eventually got mine with Budget Insurance (the car hire people).

Maybe Huddersfield is just a bit too close to Bradford? 😬
😂😂😂😂 Far too close for most of us, there are parts where its difficult to get insurancebut thankfully I'm nowhere near them. I will be trying them, tried Go Compare first as they came up with the cheapest last year.

Adrian Flux £1250!
I will never use Adrian Flux again. It’s a long story, but they lied to me when I came to renew my insurance with them. I asked to go back and listen to the recording of the original call but they said they couldn’t do that and denied they’d said what they’d said.

At that price I won't be going with them.

Here in mainland China east part, my insurance for M139 EMIRA is 18000RMB(1900). Here are the insurance premiums for some cars in the 1st year (I directly convert it into:
1. 2016 Porsche Macan 2.0T (£1270)
2. 2017 TOYOTA GT86
(£900)
3. XiaoMi SU 7 MAX (£1000)
4. 2022 Porsche panamera 2.9 T (£2200)
5. 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo LP540 (£5800)
6. TESLA Model Y (£1050)

So, I've not renewed my Admiral insurance and went through the online process of turning auto renewal off, not a simple 1 click. They offered £100 of the premium after asking what the best quote I had was, £860 with Hastings Direct.

Went via Go Compare to Hastings Direct and it had dropped £100 from the original quote. 🤔 A more palatable £750 pa. I'll be giving Money Supermarket a go today but still disappointed that the cost hasn't reduced more.

Be aware of the 26 day countdown rule.
26 Days out is about the cheapest time to get a quote. As you drop down from there the prices start to creep up. Once you're at 10 days they jump up.

Yeah I know, the way I've found to get round that is to quote for 21 days out, even if its next day, go to pay and change the date when it asks if details are correct. Done that for years and not had the premium change. Does it work for everyone, no idea but for me it has. 👍🏻

I renewed mine as part of a multi car policy a month or so ago and it was £590 down about 50 quid on last year. Indeed all three cars were a little cheaper. I’m using Ford Insure

Last year my premium increased by £100+ to £516 and this years renewal came through at £416, so was reasonably happy with that.
Thought I would spend a few mins on a comparison website and the quotes came back starting from £250 😳 So I rang Adrian Flux about my renewal, told them I wasn’t happy and had shopped around. I also noticed they charged £100 broker fee in the £416 renewal figure which I stated seemed excessive compared to the fee last year.
I told the Lady the quotes I had received and she said she would see what she could do…….
After not many minutes she came back and said they could compete with my best quote, and she did, at £246.83!

I am obviously delighted with that but it just shows what a scammy business this insurance malarkey is - and it always pays to spend a few mins on a comparison site. I used the MSE Martin Lewis one, very straight forward.

AF quoted me £1250 online, £500 more than best quote. I might just give them a call and see.

100%. Never accept the renewal quote. They figure most will let it auto renew and they can cash in on your laziness.
