Who wants a spot for an i-4?

Well hey, the Toyota Supra with auto transmission and B58 engine does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, whereas the same engine with manual transmission does the 0-60 MPH in 3.9 seconds. Is the Supra auto transmission not fast or is the manual transmission, exceptional?
Does the Supra have a professional driver use the manual transmission or some random schlub for their testing?

Who's more likely to be in the 5% of drivers who can drive a manual that way (as opposed to the 95% who cannot) and who is Toyota likely to hire for testing?

I guess everyone is missing the point I've been trying to illustrate: for 95% of Average Joe drivers, the I4 - - with it's DCT - - is going to be faster 0 to 60 than the manual will, hands down.

Just thinking outside the box!

I would describe the driver as "experienced". A newbie manual transmission driver, of course, would not be the person in this comparison.
I agree that the auto transmission would be faster but if we're talking 0.1 seconds difference, then the choice become more difficult if that is the only criteria for which one to choose.

With a tune it would outrun the V6, probably fun, too, but many will want the manual transmission and nicer sound.
Very well said. The V6 is not about speed / 0-100km numbers and this is not a C8 Corvette forum.

It's great to have options but whenever this I4 vs V6 who is faster debate comes up - the reality is the core Lotus crowd would prefer the sounds/feel/vibrations of a supercharged V6 with a piece of art - exposed manual stick shift vs getting from A to B faster with an auto.
