Wind noise

Does beg the question are Lotus following up with new owners after a week or two that things are ok with their cars, I'm presuming it won't happen.
It definitely is happening, for me anyway. I’ve had a great post sales experience to check all is well. Unfortunately it isn’t (my car is going in tomorrow for various bits looking at) but I take that with the territory and see it as helping those who take later deliveries to iron out the creases. Same as any other technology really.

Has any noticed a wind noise at high speed? you might not notice in ‘Sport mode’ as there is too much else going on. I think it’s from the door seal. Is this issue unique to my car? I can hear it on driver and passenger side. I’ve tried folding in the mirrors so see if that improved things, which it didn’t.
There is a little wind noise on my drivers side. It sounds like it’s coming from around where the bottom of the window meets the door and the frame… is that the same for you? All the seals look like they are in the correct positions.

I noticed this on a journey last night. It was on a 50mph or so road through hilly terrain (UK Peak District for local folks context) and seemed to be coming from either the top right corner of the windscreen or possibly that area of the drivers window.

Windows were fully up as far as I know.

I hadn’t noticed this while driving on the motorway at several other times, at speeds of 70mph and slightly over.

I’ve done around 200 miles and yesterday was the first time I noticed it. I drive in Sport mode all the time (much better noise!) but it’s not enough to distract from the quite apparent wind noise I heard.

I’ll mention to Lotus tomorrow while it’s in for some post delivery work.

I had the same problem with my Evora400 - even changing door seals under warranty couldn’t sort out. I believe it was a door alignment issue, more than the seal- glass didn’t fit first seal and then second seal. Glass seemed out, I would check the door.

My care is at the dealer and is supposed to have had this issue fixed….. I will let you know when I get it back

Thanks. That implies they know what it is which is good. I briefly mentioned it again while chatting with the garage midweek but I’m not sure it’s on the to-do list any longer given the fact my car will not be returned for an indefinite period due to serious issues elsewhere. It’s 3 weeks old.

Rather than speculate and create negativity, I’ll wait for news but the replacement parts may be weeks away I’m informed.

Sorry to hear you are having issues

Short update to confirm I had bad wind noise experience yesterday on a 320 mile round trip. I’ve noticed it only seems to happen when it’s windy outside, when driving at speed. When the wind is coming from the side it seems.

I’ve also established its coming from both upper corners of the windscreen - not just the driver side as I originally experienced. It’s much worse from the driver side.

I will mention it again when it’s next in the garage for software updates.

The video attached gives some idea of the noise

Did you ever get anywhere with your wind noise? Established mine has a sound of rushing wind on the drivers side that isn't present on the passenger side. It was quite obvious to me from mile 0 (now on 400) but this is the first time I've sat on the passenger side so only just noticing the stark contrast

No, I didn’t bother. I only casually mentioned it when it was in for other matters to be fair. I’ve not really noticed it much since but I don’t tend to do many motorway miles.

It will still be there of course, not something that’s going to fix itself unless it get a lot of dirt in those gaps!

This is common with frameless window, and I recently had to fix the wind noise on the driver side of my Tesla Model 3. It seemed the door wasn't aligned but turns out the window was just sticking too much out and needed a tighter seal on the gasket. I'm wondering if there are adjustment screws in the door frame in the Emira that adjusts the windows inward or out just like on the Model 3. See video...

I get some whistling on the drivers side window at higher speeds. It seems to go away if i ever so slightly drop the window from it’s upmost position. Need to have a better look at it, see if there is anything obvious.

Yup that's how my Tesla windows were doing. Slight drop of the window would eliminate the noise. I'm really thinking the window tracks needs to be pushed inwards if windows gaskets are good. Try putting a suction cup with a handle. When you hear the noise try pulling the window inwards and see if makes a better seal?

I’ll give that a try.

Now where to find my trusty suction pads…

Did anyone experience any wind noise above 50mph? If yes, where is it from? Window seal or maybe wing mirror??
Has the wind noise on driver window resolved? If yes, what was the fix? My driver side window has low volume noise over 60mph originating in front corner near mirror. When washing the car a very small amount of water finds its way into the seal...verifying the location of wind noise.

Does your rubber door seal are dry like mine ? Mine feel like they are 20 years old at some place here and there.
