I don't think they need to debate anything. I would just be curious to know how much 5mm increase in radius shifts the brake bias. I'd love to see the number. It probably is mostly insignificant.
I thought I would add some notes after doing this recently.
1) The yellow plug slides out of its clip in the floor, you don't necessarily need to pull out the black clip (which I nearly found impossible, the aluminum tab that supports it was bending before it would pop out)
2) I could not fit...
Also, I am not trying to convince you this is a bad mod. On the contrary, it seems awesome for you and I hate brake dust.
But prospective buyers should know that this probably significantly moves the brake bias which will mess with limit braking for people that care about driving hard.
It's sounds like you're talking about general wear which is very different than ABS abuse which usually create warbles from uneven deposits etc. probably doesn't matter for ceramic.
Yeah of course ABS exists. The point is it will kick in (which is not good for general pad/rotor wear but maybe doesn't matter for ceramic) much earlier than it would otherwise before the brake bias was messed with.
If you never plan on hard braking during spirited driving or track, no worries...
"should improve braking"
It depends on what you mean by "improve". You want front and rear to lock up at the same time to maximize braking distance. If front locks up first, you will understeer and not slow down as fast. If back locks up first, you will oversteer and not slow down as fast...
If anyone knows the brake bias stock, we could compute the change in distribution based on the updated geometries.
In the GR86/BRZ community, people have worked out spreadsheets for all of the aftermarket brake setup options.
In this case, I think the community is a bit smaller so maybe that...
When I purchased, I was deluded about prices for desirable specs. I brought a bunch of comps that were lower and showed them and they were like "how many were superman or McDonald's specs"...and I had to admit all of them.
I have a Uniden R7 and love it.
The Emira I bought has a USB plug integrated with the rear view mirror mount. I bought a USB power adapter and didn't have to run any cables. It was awesome.
Could you explain how you tricked the notch to open?
I just leave the cable passing through and closing the trunk on it doesn't seem to be marking the trunk itself at all
I mushed one down as a test fit, but now I'm deciding to expand the other end of the test pipe a little bit.
Now I need to debate whether to go back and replace the gasket again.
