I’m surprised given the extent of the repairs that Lotus haven’t just bought it back and written it off. Surely they are spending more in parts and labour than its currently worth?
It was a year old:
HVAC resistor motor replaced
Both wiring harnesses replaced due to corrosion
Wiring failure
SOS system failure
Passenger door replaced after blistering resulting in a huge panel gap
Fails to start intermittently
Bell & Colvill didn’t want it when Lotus HQ asked them to buy...
In my many dealings with Lotus customer care I genuinely felt they had no interest in retaining my business. This mass offload of problem Emira’s just confirms to me that they have no interest in your average Lotus enthusiast or the Lotus “family”. They’re far too busy paying David Gandy to say...
Mine was completely re-wired. There was a subsequent wire failure and Lotus bought it back. Corrosion of the wiring terminal is seemingly, and unfortunately, quite common.
Buyers need to be very cautious with cars previously owned by ‘Lotus’. My troublesome Emira was bought by Lotus Technology and I wouldn’t put it past them (Lotus or Auto100) to be shifting them on as “directors cars” or “demonstrators”. They certainly won’t be telling anyone the wiring harness...
I bought it for £78k at the end of July 23. They bought it back for £58k in October. This was after Lotus CC assured me that a wiring failure was not due to the wiring harness being replaced. They either didn’t understand what had been done to the car or were being dishonest. Either way, they...
It’s official, my Emira journey is over. After months of back and forth Lotus have agreed to buy the car back.
This photo was taken on my birthday in June 2 days before it was recovered. We had driven to Beaverbrook in Surrey and the doorman let us park right outside the Hotel next to the...
They are my local dealership and they have had my Emira now for 3.5 months. I guess they're too busy sorting all the problems out to talk about recalls!!
They don’t show on the .gov website because Lotus don’t officially call them recalls. I discovered this during my many, many phone calls with Lotus CC. It’s very cheeky of them tbh. It could easily be argued that failure of the HVAC system is a safety issue.
I’m also quite surprised that i4s...
It’s was for me too. But, when it’s constantly in for repairs I’ve lost all connection to it. I haven’t seen it for 3 and a half months now and have no faith in it to go any great distance when it finally returns.
And, I’m fed up with dealing with customer care so it was time to move on.
I don’t think it is a coincidence that when I had my Emira (3.5 months ago now!) and was dallying it only the passenger door blistered. Opening and closing the drivers door every may have prevented the build up of water and at least delayed the blistering.
Very pertinent subject given the situation I’m in.
Porsche 911/718 are too anonymous for me and don’t feel special. I’m looking very closely at a AM Vantage F1
I know what you mean but I’m not sure I can face the possibility of having to deal with Lotus customer care\aftersales again in the future.
I’m in the fortunate position of being able to look at cars in the price bracket above the Emira which does open some possibilities. Whether I look at them...
Unfortunately, this may be the end of my short Emira journey.
In total, I have now been without it for 3.5 months with no end in sight. It has been problematic since collection and the replacement of both wiring harnesses has not improved the situation.
Lotus are now giving me the cold...
