They are all the same (Madtrace) with variations on the carbon part...I have the large ones. On the scale, the stock is on one side, mushy no click no sound. These are on the other side of that, very loud, very positive click, takes deliberate force to engage. If you have a sim it's the same as...
sorry quick question you are based in the UK? I now realized all the early i4 review videos on YouTube in the UK and elsewhere all have the same sound...so I assume every i4 is doing this globally? makes sense otherwise there would be some easy way to turn it off
the latest is my installer found some information yesterday about a module in the engine bay on the driver's side with some pins out...he's gathering more info, hoping we'll eventually have a way to get rid off it. Software only option seems...unlikely the factory would do anything but who...
My personal preference coming from the Alfa 4C is that you hear turbo noise, exhaust noise. Mine was VERY loud basically a straight pipe and very loud turbo and wastegate sounds. The M139 sounds great compared to other 4 cylinder engines, deeper a little more throaty. I much prefer it over the...
You can definitely do this in a weekend, couple days. Get a hold of the service manual it will explain how to take everything apart @docron did his rear firewall in a day. My installer did the doors and speaker wiring in a day and the rear on the 2nd day
oh but yes! the noise floor...that stuff did work really well definitely recommend doing the rear firewall and quarter areas as well as the double layers in the doors. Very noticeable reduction in road noise -
oh it basically stopped here due to the fake engine noise signal the Emira (I4 AMG) puts out through the DSP. It's so loud the subwoofer basically rattles the windows when the engine is running. Right now I have the entire system disconnected because that fake engine/exhaust noise is so...
Thank you for the update! this is mega...and the reason I chose (and probably others) the AMG platform because it in theory should be way easier to tune than the aged V6 platform. Thanks for your information excited to hear progress
@KJWEmira do you know where we can get full wiring schematic for the I4 audio system, specifically what's going into the DSP unit? Lotus service said UK told them the fake engine noise is being put out directly by the DSP, so something must be feeding it rpm signal. Just continuing on our quest...
100%! reason I posted is the most people will commute/daily in the Touring mode in automatic, and the programming will go as high a gear as possible and especially on the highway you'll be going 50-60 already in 7th gear and you can hear the engine pinging. Car is much happier near 3k at least...
Try this next time you're out:
Touring, manual...drive to like 50/60 and upshift to 6/7/8 so you're barely over 1500-ish rpms and lightly tip in throttle...barely. Is that pinging? or some...M139 light metallic sound we aren't used to yet? After the tank of gas that came with the car when I...
My installer is probably a couple weeks out before giving it another go. He used a signal processor to get full range to the new speakers and had to combine some of those signals. The stock DSP is doing some frequency splitting. Regardless, the new sub will get that fake engine noise no matter...
No I wish I was keeping the stock seats but they're super uncomfortable for my body (they oddly push your sternum out when you sit in them) and there's also no lateral support for high speed cornering. I am putting in Bride Gias III seats...good combo of track + recline, and for my body super...
Ordered these for my Emira, they said they would make them as low as possible and they look awesome...really well made, very beefy. Got driver and passenger.
The engine drone is in all modes, most noticeable in sport/track. Your sub is distorting basically all the time from this signal in all modes - this is why there is no fader in the car too, that would lower the fake noise if you moved to the front.
I'd change all that out immediately too lol! My old K20/24 Elise ruined me, then my meth injected 4C ruined me even further lol - will be exciting once we can tune these things, advancement will happen super fast since there's so many parts. Already have the upgraded hybrid turbo bookmarked (!)
The only adjustment we have on I4 is "Speed Compensation" to make the overall volume louder as speed increases.
When you eventually get out of engine break in and go into Sport/Track the volume increase in exhaust sound is almost entirely your rear three speakers, and the engine noise same
The actual sound the i4 engine makes sounds exactly like a Honda Civic, it's a 4 cylinder and very civil. Exhaust/downpipe/gpf delete will all wake it up nicely :) Higher in rpms in Sport/Track sounds great in the car but it's generated sounds not what it actually sounds like, that's fine and on...
Quick review:

I used about 26-ish square feet of material for the two doors (outer panel plus inner panel) and the rear firewall and 3/4 bulkhead area. I have NOT done any of the floor, wheel wells or roof. With these three areas under 50mph it is very...
I would imagine all i4's are doing this because most likely it's all just ported over from AMG - and again, it's such a fringe case of any i4 owners who have amplified the stock system with aftermarket speakers amps and subs to even notice this is happening. So probably not many people have...
I am really hoping this isn't just something buried in the main entertainment logic and not able to be turned off. So if you have an I4 and you change your mode from Touring to Sport/Track and you hear that louder exhaust inside your car? Completely generated. Without the system running you can...
Yes but only because my stock signals are now going to an external amp...I removed fuse for this new amp which means the only speaker working in my car is the center channel driven by the stock amp. No fake engine noises or exhaust is routed to the center speaker, which now sounds like an alarm...
Yeah there's some possible offending parts in the service manual that @docron is correlating with known AMG menus and parts...digging. Also will be back at Galpin on Monday they might have some more info. I think basic theory is all the AMG fake sound stuff was ported over, that would be...
Which part exactly are you refering to? that's all the stuff in the passenger rear quarter area near the sub, etc. Love how it's drawn in LOST style lol
John Alavazo at Galpin Service in LA is awesome, so helpful...gives me confidence that service center is well run and staffed - anyways just left, his tech confirmed everything and that it is indeed very video game-y the sound. Actually the pumped in sound is more like, a boxer engine and not...
Galpin in Los Angeles has no idea what I am talking about - but will be there in service next week to fix the trunk and get into more detail with them. It's such a fringe use case I don't think anyone (in LA of recent purchases) who has an I4 is out of engine break in, so probably doesn't even...
I've read another person who has added a sub and tweeters and got past this with opposite phase wiring, but don't know if anyone has attempted external amp driving new (full range) speakers. If so how did you defeat the system fake engine sounds from distorting your signal?
and to anyone with a...
