Unfortunately as far as I know it's the only way to sync the valve with the car. Does your car need any software updates? Maybe just plan a day trip for it. The closest dealer to me is 5 hours away, and that's what I did to take care of software updates and the water shield for the front...
The ECU learns and makes adjustments over time. When I installed the Eventuri intake, I drove the car for almost 2 weeks before getting a dyno run. I had already done a baseline run sometime before with the car completely stock, so I had something to compare to. I consistently gained 15+ hp...
They came in because I asked them to. Like I said, I've done business with them a long time. I asked Warren (the owner) if he had anything CCB-wise for the Emira, sent him a picture of my car, and he looked into it right away. He said he needed a car to look at, so I posted that request in...
If you change to stronger brake pads, that's going to change the bias. If you change to stickier tires, that's going to change the bias. For a car that weighs over 3,000 lbs, this just isn't going to make a dramatic change in the bias. What I'm looking forward to is a more linear braking...
I asked about them coming in and commenting and this is what they said: "It's perfectly alright to adopt to front big rotors w/o any concern but as you know "anything is debatable" on forums. This is part of the reason we can't participate as it can consume a lot of our time yet prove or...
Honestly I'm surprised at the animosity here. I'm not trying to justify anything. I've been a customer of RB for 15 years, and they've always been great to deal with, and I've never had any issues with their products. I trust their advice since they've been building and supplying custom brake...
RB got back to me, and this is what they said:
"A larger rotor will increase the brake torque but it doesn't change the brake bias.
Emira's front rotor increase to 380 is following the same upgrade path as Porsche 997 in which 997.2 front rotor was oversized to 380 from 997.1's 350mm, while the...
I'm not focused on 0-60 specifically, but it's a known and recognizable measure that people can generally relate to in order to gauge acceleration performance. That's why I wanted a Dragy and will post results. It's nice to be able to "get up and go" when you press the gas pedal, especially...
Any braking is not good for pad/rotor wear. They're a consumable, like tires. If you don't want pad/rotor wear, don't drive your car, then you won't have to worry about bias or wear. No worries indeed.
I don't want the brakes to lock up at any time. You're sliding and not in control at that point. That's the whole purpose of ABS to rapidly pulse modulate the brakes to prevent lock up. In the old days before automated anti-skid systems, I used to pulse the pedal manually to keep the brakes...
Currency would be the biggest factor, but there's also tariffs and luxury taxes. With the way the current political landscape is right now, it's hard to say how stable things are going to be in the near future. Those of us that got FE's at the original price got a pretty good deal IMO.
Doesn't the ABS and other computers in the Emira adjust for this? You're removing over 6 lbs per front rotor with the RB CCB rotors which should improve braking. It's obviously going to change the braking characteristics compared to the stock iron rotors, but that's something you adjust to as...
Kinda sorta but only for the front brakes which are slightly larger. The rears are the same size as factory. It's not unusual for after-market brake upgrades to go with bigger rotors in the front, and often 6 pot instead of 4 pot calipers. By using the McLaren front rotor, they're able to...
We have those "Your Speed Is" signs where we live, and they do pick up the Emira, but I noticed they don't do it as quickly as it does in our SUV. I would say it takes maybe 2-3 car lengths closer before it picks up the Emira.
Just out of curiosity, I went onto the U.S. site to see what we get over here. Interestingly, you can still get the FE but only for the i4, and it's $99,900. The V6 is still listed, but as a base model not as an FE, and it's also $99,900. However there isn't a base model for the i4!
I first...
Then it must be an issue with the paint. There might have been something on that edge before it was painted. It could be as simple as skin oil from someone holding the part at that end, and it wasn't thoroughly cleaned and degreased before painting. I'd have your dealer look at it. That...
They already had these for the McLaren, and they fit the Emira, so rather than go to the expense of creating a new rotor just for the Emira, they made them part of the Emira set. It seems they are going to make a custom hat for the front for the alignment set screw though.
I contacted RB asking for 80mm bolts, but they said:
"We ran tests and concluded that 80mm was too long with the 4.8mm spacer. (about 2mm too long)"
Did you have any issues tightening the bolts? Did it feel like they bottomed out? Are you sure the factory bolts were 75mm?
I believe they upgraded the gear set for the Emira. Also, one of the last versions of the Evora had 430 hp from the factory, so it can handle at least that much.
Dark blue and gold work very well together. This is my Camaro. It's inspired by the old Penske/Donahue Sunoco CanAm Camaros from the late 60's, and also the Blue Angels.
Thank you for this clarification! I haven't done anything with installation yet, so I didn't realize the bolts they sent weren't longer. I'll contact them over that.
They do give you a longer 75mm set of mounting bolts for the fronts. I've been doing business with them for 15 years. They've been very good to deal with, and are quick to fix issues if any arise. The issue with the set screw is something they'll probably address for future orders. I believe...
If I remember right, they've increased the torque by 50 nm for the new models which indicates an updated engine tune, and that would require a recertification. I notice their 0-60 time has lowered to 4.0 too. I wonder if this update tune would be something we could get for our cars?
