What do people think of the new pricing?

Will it kill future sales? (the base price is higher than I expected)

Just gone through the configurator and mine comes in at £108k on the road.
I'm unsure I would have paid that despite how much I love the Emira.

All cars have got more expensive, but Lotus is going to find it much, much harder to shift Emiras at these prices. I suspect £100k is quite a big psychological barrier for some people. Hopefully good news for used values though - every cloud.....:)
Yes agreed - I'm assuming it might stem the 2nd hand price drop a little...
And the question isn't as simple as what can people afford - it's whether they think it's worth it, compared to what else is available for the money...

As spec’d my car went from 130K to 145K CAD, but Canada is now putting a 10K luxury tax on it and they’re applying a sales tax to the luxury tax. Now it’s like a 160K car. I love this car but I wouldn’t buy it now.

My V6 FE would now cost £102k on the configurator. I paid £56k for it, less than 2 years old and pretty much as new condition in my ideal spec. I love it but couldn’t justify buying a new car and suffering £2k a month depreciation.

Keep on raising prices, Lotus! While you’re at it, only produce a small amount of cars so they don’t flood the market. Then in about a year, discontinue the Emira entirely. Boom, guaranteed future classic!

Compared to what tho? The price they offered it at 4 years ago?

The closest comp is the Cayman GTS and that msrp increased nearly $13,000 in 4 years.

Does this include next month's tax increases? If not it's going to be nearer £111K!

Though I suspect most new orders won't spec up a new car like an FE so should be back under £100K for most cars.

Still it's very expensive. I got my pre-registered FE with delivery mileage, basically brand new for under £70K. I wouldn't have paid £100K. No chance.

There are still FE cars on Autotrader with just a few thousand miles for under £60K. Who is going to pay over £40K more for a lower spec new car! Surely you would be bonkers mad.

I voted yes because I am. My spec works out basically at FE2.0 pricing though so there's no real difference. If you want magma or seneca with alcantara you are probably going to vote no. If you want vivid over black leather then you are likely to be getting a good deal. If you are in the middle like me its basically a wash.

Cayman GTS is around £20k lower in the UK when you put the extras on both.

£100k plus is too much for a lotus factoring in the poor dealer network, reliability, extended warranty.

I paid £63k with 700 miles and 6 months so I feel I got a bargain. No chance I’d buy new though

Agreed. At $80-90K USD, I’d be willing to chance it. At $110K+, it’s harder to stomach and isn’t worth it IMO.

It depends on the country. In germany it seems like a big increase, not so much in switzerland. And all that are saying they bought a used one with low mileage „basically brand new“: no, its used and not brand new, comparing apples and oranges…

I was on the fence about the Emira for about 6 months last spring. I had a deposit for an FE2 V6M and was offered allocations but kept deferring mostly b/c I was not ready to commit at the FE2 pricing. Finally, the dealer offered me a Fall24 FE1 allocation at the original FE1 price. That was enough to get me to commit. I don't think I would have bought one if this had not occurred.

My car as spec'd increased from 110k to 114k which is not a huge difference. But I'm already paying a FE2 price premium 🙃

Buying a pre-reg with delivery miles is for all intents and purposes brand new especially if you’re saving 30-40% you have to be rich or financially irresponsible to buy brand new from factory.
