Can anyone tell me if the 3.5L engine can be taken out from below, or do rear body panels need to come off to take it out the back and up? TIA

Woah.. do you know, or can you find out how many hours they will charge you just to disassemble & reassemble?Semi-related, this car at my local dealership needed a new transmission - Entire back taken apart

From what I recall, they said something leaked and spilled into the transmission and so it needs to be replacedWhy does it need a new transmission?
My situation was different from what Stephen described. Mine started with a kick-back that I felt in the shift knob as I'm driving away from a dead stop. Then it started slipping out of first gear as I lift off the throttle to get into second gear. If I start out in second gear, all the other gears seem fine and the car drives normally. Why does it need a new transmission?
Damn! Why did you have yours replaced?I had my transmission replaced just last week. It took several weeks to get the transmission delivered, and work took about a week. To the OP's question, the two body panels and bumper comes out.
Sounds crazy that many of us already had the transmission replaced
