3rd Cat Delete

Do you have an idea of how much it cost and where you will be getting 3rd car delete done Tom? I’m Surrey based, so hoping I can maybe use a few of your contacts…..
I'm expecting 3rd cat delete will be similar to the Evora, so you just need to get a "straight pipe" from somewhere like Larini (or GRP in the US) and then have a mechanic swap the sections over. It's doable DIY if you have some basic skills, or any Lotus dealer like Bell & Colvill or a specialist indie like Back On Track can do it. From memory my Evora was about £300-400 for the part and 1-2 hours labour.

You can keep the cat to reverse the mod at a later date. At the moment the scrap value of the precious metals in the cat mean they are worth £200-300, so if you don't keep it you can offset the cost of the change.

Thanks Tom

Also might be a good idea to keep it to swap back in if you plan on doing track days.

We don’t know where the dB level of the car is yet and a de-cat pipe might take it over an acceptable threshold.

Speaking as a previously black-flagged ex-Evora 400 owner!

Yes, like this:

Edit: and like this for the dual tailpipe variants:

That looks horrible… but functional I guess.

I think if you want a full 3rd cat delete, lowest cost option could be waiting for Greg (GRP) to make a straight pipe. It would good to see a pic of the 3rd cat on the Emira to see if the existing Evora one would fit

You need different straight pipes for different Evora variants, so I think it's unlikely the Emira layout will be identical.

Do all the Emiras around the world now come with the 3rd cat? Is that was is strangling a little bit of the exhaust note compared to the Evora 410 or is there something else going on?
Does anyone know if the Emira 3rd cat part number is the same as any previous cars? IE would one of the bypass pipe from an Evora fit an Emira?

See my post above yours. I think it's unlikely the Emira straight pipe will be exactly the same as one of the various Evora ones.

Did anyone respond to the request from Larini here to help develop Emira exhausts? If so, Larini should be able to answer this question.

I responded last week but haven’t heard back - possibly due to Christmas or maybe they’ve already got another car.

I was in contact with David before Christmas, and he told me that they have one car coming in next month (Jan), but ideally they would like a second car to work on

All this talk of CAT deletes-how do you get this through an MOT as I imagine emissions would be higher??

Apologies if that's a noob question,I've never done it

We will have 3rd cat deletes available right away once we receive our car in March (fingers crossed no more delays)
Just need the car here to verify fitment, adjust as needed and then produce them.
We already have a lowering kit ready as well, just need to do the same with some fitment verification.

Great news @GRP! Looking forward to getting one from you guys and hopefully a deviated stitched/TDC marked steering wheel will soon be available too!

Thanks for joining in on here @GRP and I'm sure lots of people are looking forward to seeing more info about your Emira projects.

On the Evora the 3rd cat was needed to meet US emissions requirements and could safely be deleted in the UK without causing an MOT failure. I'm assuming it will be similar for the Emira, with the exhaust system designed to meet worst case global requirements but being fine to remove in the UK and some other countries.

Some countries are very strict on modifications and I think the UK briefly looked at changing legislation to make it harder to modify from a noise and emissions standpoint, but that was dropped (or delayed).

Absolutely!
As soon as we can order some spare wheels we will offer our customized wheel service for the Emiras well.
Lots of plans, just need our car!
