I don't know if anybody has noticed this, but I just realized the side profile of the McLaren Altura is very similar to the Emira, especially the side air intake.

What do you guys think? Just a coincidence?

YOUR EMIRA (1).jpg

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Both cars came out around the same time, so not sure who was first, but I also think most mid-engined cars have similar profiles.

Have always been a fan and lusted after the 12C, P1 and now the 720/750s. The ownership costs have deterred that on used ones I could afford.
The Artura is nice looking but I think the Emira actually looks better except maybe the back. And the cool doors of course.

I think the Emira looks more like a Ferrari 488 as far as shape goes. I've only seen one Artura in person and I thought the Emira looked better lol. I may be biased though

Agreed, there is only so much design flexibility for the overall profile of a mid-engine car. However, the design and lofting of the side air intakes are nearly identical between the Emira and Artura. This is usually a very distinguishing feature of a mid-engine car. Check out the side intakes of a cayman, huracan, Revulto, Tememario, R8.... They are all rather unique with the exception of the 488 and F8. I do see some design language carried over into the Emira/Artura intakes from these cars.

I, too, prefer the Emira's more cohesive design. The Artura feels like it has supercar features bolted on (flying buttress, doors, front tire vent, etc.). Strange how similar the side vents look though.

To me, the McLaren is more super car like, more technical and edgy. Meanwhile the Emira is softer and more approachable. Both cars look special but the McLaren definitely has more presence.

I generally like the Artura styling. It is one of McLaren's better-looking cars along with the GT. But the front bumper styling is awkward. I think the lack of a traditional grill gives it a Model 3 look. On the other hand, the Emira's front view is perfection. It is my favorite view, especially from a distance.

The artura has better overall proportions. If the emira had a longer wheel base and larger over hangs with the same design I think it would be perfection. Now it’s just close to it :)

I like my emira (ofcourse) also financially 😂.
But the artura is really a stunning car to look at, it has defo more supercar looks than the emira due to the use of materials on the car and the dramatic look in the rear part and the engine bay

The Emira design is also a simplified version of the Evija, which was designed (I would imagine) and launched before the Emira and the Artura.

I agree. The emira is a little smushed. It’s exaggerated by the 21” wheels. If the wheel arches were made for 20s I think the car would look more proportional. Lowering the car helps to make it look longer. Colors make a difference too.

I have been stopped 3 times so far and told "Nice McClaren" whilst filling up the car in petrol stations. The similarities are quite obvious and the general public would seem to agree :)

I noticed this when I was visiting random service areas in the expressway when I was still in the break-in period for mine.

This is my Emira next to an Artura:

I own both and don't find them too similar next to each other. I find the Emira to be a bit prettier to look at from the side. The Artura rear quarter is flat, large and doesn't look as flattering in person as in photos. Not to mention the front half has a lot of design elements but is cut off abruptly, nose could have been a little longer. The Emira's proportions are just really well executed. On road presence the Artura wins hands down though. It just looks so awesome from a mile away as it comes closer and closer. Whereas the Emira almost looks pedestrian from the rear mirror.

And here's the Z06 for brevity sake. As Sono8s pointed out that rear quarter and glass forward design is hard to be original with a mid-engine design, if the Z06 edges were all smoothed out it would look even more similar to the Artura I think.

Emira has 20", right?

I think it would look better with 19" or even 18".

My mistake. 20s. Would look better with 19s and lower. Seems strange to say that.
