Altura vs Emira (Just the looks)

I don't know if anybody has noticed this, but I just realized the side profile of the McLaren Altura is very similar to the Emira, especially the side air intake.

What do you guys think? Just a coincidence?

I test drove the Altura from Ascot (owned a McLaren 12c at the time). An Emira came along the road towards me and I said to Ben the salesman, sorry but that car there will be the reason I won’t go forward with this deal (that I was going to sign up for that day). Now have an Emira i4 and love it. Not to say that the Altura will drop in price dramatically as it is. Great decision looking back 🙂

Most Ferraris just aren’t that pretty to me. Exciting, athletic, yes. I’d be happy to have one. I’d go so far as to say the last Ferrari design I really like is the F355. For some reason, even the Roma looks a bit like an actualized computer render to me.

The shapes are a bit inorganic to my eye. And for a car to be “pretty” to me, for lack of a better term, it has to have some organic or natural form.

The Emira has this, and that’s why its design will endure.

Close friend here in dubai with a 458 spider , also one of my favourite Ferraris ever

I love Ferrari design (Ferrari 296 GTB for example), but have to say I genuinely like the Emira design more than the venerable 458. 458 has the screaming v8, but the Emira has a 6-speed manual. Not even close for me.

I can’t overstate how critical a manual transmission is to my enjoyment of a sports car.

A heavy grand tourer? Who cares. Put the slush box in to crush miles barreling down the highway. But for a sports car, there is almost no level of power I would trade for a manual transmission.
