As I spend more time in the car I decided to make use of the audio, rather than listen to a podcast, which is my commuting habit now. Out on my own today, so my playlist and my choice of destination.
System copes well enough albeit doesn’t seem as powerful as the specs suggest. The rear speaker behind my ear was clearly distorting with some songs as well. Sounded as though it’s blown or not located properly.
Not a problem with all songs and the song that really exposed it was -ahem- Billy Eilish, Ocean Eyes, which really isn’t the sort of song to absolutely expose a system.
Anyone had a speaker replaced under warranty?
Second question- Cambridge Audio offer a sub fitted with some sound deadening at a faintly obnoxious £1500.
Has anyone used a shop in Surrey/Sussex to install a powered sub, to fit neatly behind the drivers seat and integrate with the standard system?
I don’t want to chuck ££££’s at it. Thanks

Try sitting in the other seat and see if the other rear speakers has the same behavior. It would be odd for two speakers to have the same defect if it is indeed a defect. If you hear the same distortion, it may just be a limitation of the system.

Does the distortion come on only at higher volumes or is it always there?

There’s a car audio place in bishop Stortford called Audiophile Incar (yes, I know that’s not the area you mentioned, but it’s not that far away).
