So apparently the clutch on the EVORA is a huge labor intensive job. I have zero knowledge of this, but what I read on other USA forums is that the EVORA clutch replacement is around $6000USD due to the need of engine removal.

1) is this correct ?

2) Anyone know if this cost "issue" of complicated clutch replacement has be address on the EMIRA ?

There is an urban myth on the internet that the Evora clutch is made of cheese and costs a fortune to change.

There are reports of some needing replacement at 30k miles but that's rare. A few more have needed to be done at 50k miles. Equally there are reports of people at 75k and 100k still on the original clutch. The highest mileage I've heard was 115k miles and still original.

Originally Lotus said clutch replacement in line with their "service book" was 36 hours labour and about £500 in parts. The labour is because it was specified as needing clam removal and engine lift - it's very tightly packaged in the engine bay. Since then a lot of Lotus specialist independents and many Lotus dealers have worked out how to do it quicker. Quite a few will do it for a fixed price, around £3000. It's still a big lump sum but you should reckon it's after 50-75k miles.

The Emira engine bay is bigger and the bodywork is panels rather than a clamshell, so clutch replacement should be the same time or quicker than for an Evora.

We should get access to the Lotus service book information for Emira about the same time the first customer cars get delivered.

TomE, thanks for the good info. I guess/hope that lotus possibly updated their engineering to possibly make this service procedure less complicated.

I assume that most likely they did.
