Hi there
The brake dust on these cars is pretty nuts.
Has anyone come up with a solution to this?

Either pads or some sort of treatment I can put on the wheels?
Thanks a ton

I am having a similar experience. I’ve only changed the front pads thus far. When first done I performed the bedding in and after driving for a little while noticed a lot more squealing with the brakes at certain speeds and stopping at stop signs and traffic lights.

I decided to re-bed the brakes. I pulled the wheels and pads. Cleaned the rotors and then used steel wool to clean up the rotors. I also hit the pads with some sandpaper. I tried to get the rotors as clean as possible to make sure there was no OEM pad still on the rotors.

I did the bedding process again and it seemed to be better. (It has been hard to get good drives in the last few weeks as it has gotten cold here.)

Now when I do get a chance to drive. They are quiet at first. I try to get them warmed up and they seem to stay quiet for a time. Issue is if I’m not breaking a lot on my runs they seem to get too cold and then they are crazy noisy. I do remember the stock pads being noisy for the first few hundred miles so maybe I just need to get more miles on them.

I do agree the dust is better though (darker, not the rusty brown color of the OEM pad). Though most of the dust I find is on the barrel of the wheel and it looks as if the pads are spitting it out. I’ll try to get a picture later today.

As for performance they seem to stop as good as the OEM . Maybe a bit grabby at times. Sometimes while downshifting on the brakes is a bit off-putting.

The jury is still out for me but I definitely need to get more miles on them. They also may require a set of Racing Brake rotors.
Can you clarify which pads you are referring to?

I have the XT910 but haven't installed them yet. When I do so I plan to use shims if possible, and do a traditional (very minimal) grease application on the pad pins and other key points of edge contact.

Haven't logged onto the forum in awhile but I'm here to report that the EBC red stuff low dust pads are 100% worth the installation. Substantially less dust than the OEM pads, I would say 75%+ less dust. The install was relatively easy but regarding comments mentioning a tight/uneasy fit of the pads, the key to is retract the piston inside the caliper as much as you can. I used a rag wrapped around putty knife to push the piston in as far as possible. When I did that, I could work the brake pad in softly until it was in proper position. When I did not manually push the piston in using the putty knife, the pads simply wouldn't go in without excessive (and likely damaging) force.

Those are the pads after +-1000km of driving, the rear pads seem to be wearing unevenly on some spots

I’m into my second week on the 910’s and may be swapping them for Red Stuff I still have new in the box. The low speed grabbiness is a bit more than I prefer, and although not a huge deal, dust has turned out to be more pronounced on the fronts than I was expecting (the rears have been great, but I don’t know weather that big a front/rear difference is to be expected). I’ll give it another couple weeks and see. Appreciate the posts on this thread so far.
