Any way to fix the brake dust?

Hi there
The brake dust on these cars is pretty nuts.
Has anyone come up with a solution to this?

Either pads or some sort of treatment I can put on the wheels?
Thanks a ton

I had my place ceramic coat the wheels and calipers with 2 coats.. It's easier to clean for sure but it doesn't stop the dust from collecting.. It does only take about 10 mins to wipe off the wheels though with the ceramic and a proper brush..

I too am waiting on a proper pad to reduce the dust considerably. Sadly I am NOT mechanically inclined so I can't do it myself and I don't really trust a shop to do it like @kitkat did and not cut corners..

I guess I will wait until someone comes out with a perfect fit pad.

I’m installing Racing Brake’s new pads in 2 weeks, will let you know how it works out.

The most direct way is to replace the brake pads with more metal components, but ,can the original brake pads withstand is a problem, and this brake pad will have a sharp sound when the heavy brake, my other car replaced the high-carbon steel brake disc and track brake skin, brake performance improved a lot, dust is less, but more noise

Hey guys, installed the RB brake pads today, initial feedback so far:
The brakes are great, more grabby than the OEM Ferodo pads, yet they still feel very modular to use.
The only downside so far is that the front brakes "click" while driving over bumps or potholes. Not sure what it is, but I am sure I installed them properly.
They produce minimal noise and SO FAR the brake dust seems to be very minimal too. I have washed my wheels today and will report in a week or so with pictures.

Also FYI: Since they are more grabby, your ABS will engage way more often than with the stock pads, I was driving over some speedbumps today and stopped suddenly from maybe 30mph, and the ABS engaged earlier.

Def would love to know how much brake dust after intervals of driving.. Right now I can't go more than 6 miles without dust, and at 25 miles it's pretty thick, over 50 miles and there is a ton (this is in city driving with traffic mind you).

Mine go on tomorrow but my road test will be delayed a bit - bloody weather. Any update?

Is the EBC Red Stuff pad for the Evora the same fitment for the Emira? I can't see a Red Stuff option on the EBC site for Emira (but GRP sell them) DP3042C and DP3036C

I’m pretty sure it is the same fitment as the evora gt, I got a set fairly early on and it was advertised as such on various sites.

Hi any further impressions now that you’ve have a couple weeks driving them?

Initial observations -
Installed after 20 miles / 45 minutes on the stock pads and noticeable dust (not surprising to anyone on these threads). Dust since then is indeed minimal, and no noticeable noise. Grabbiness is pronounced, but in fairness, I had no real time with the stock pads, and am overcoming a bit of muscle memory from the car I’ve been driving. The install was easy.

For dust and ease of install, very much so. As to grabbiness, it’s a little much at the moment but I’ll likely adapt with more drive time (I’m just 120 miles in, and have a little muscle memory to get past), and curious to see whether any of the bite abates with use.

I've had the brakes installed for the past 2 weeks and a few things have happened so far: The brake dust is definitely better, it has a different, darker color than the stock Ferodo pads (that appears more copper-ish brown).

However, there seems to be an issue with the brake pad material. My Lotus centre mechanic (A very experienced guy that also services some serious race cars) said, that the pads are too hard for the stock rotors and don't bite down on them too effectively. After driving my Emira hard, the brakes started to make a weird noise after maybe 3-4 heavy braking zones and started smelling a lot. They also squeak more than the stock pads during city driving and rattle while driving over bumps (no clue why).

I will try to refit them and give you some more feedback soon!

I am having a similar experience. I’ve only changed the front pads thus far. When first done I performed the bedding in and after driving for a little while noticed a lot more squealing with the brakes at certain speeds and stopping at stop signs and traffic lights.

I decided to re-bed the brakes. I pulled the wheels and pads. Cleaned the rotors and then used steel wool to clean up the rotors. I also hit the pads with some sandpaper. I tried to get the rotors as clean as possible to make sure there was no OEM pad still on the rotors.

I did the bedding process again and it seemed to be better. (It has been hard to get good drives in the last few weeks as it has gotten cold here.)

Now when I do get a chance to drive. They are quiet at first. I try to get them warmed up and they seem to stay quiet for a time. Issue is if I’m not breaking a lot on my runs they seem to get too cold and then they are crazy noisy. I do remember the stock pads being noisy for the first few hundred miles so maybe I just need to get more miles on them.

I do agree the dust is better though (darker, not the rusty brown color of the OEM pad). Though most of the dust I find is on the barrel of the wheel and it looks as if the pads are spitting it out. I’ll try to get a picture later today.

As for performance they seem to stop as good as the OEM . Maybe a bit grabby at times. Sometimes while downshifting on the brakes is a bit off-putting.

The jury is still out for me but I definitely need to get more miles on them. They also may require a set of Racing Brake rotors.
