Anyone else have a car that doesn’t start strongly?

Im very well familiar with lotus and their battery drain. On my Evora I needed to do a little dance with it so it could start strongly. One of the first things I did was install an antigravity battery.

With it, also have the battery tracker to monitor the % of battery left. This morning, after the car had sat for a few days, I got in and tried to fire it up and it did not want to start. Didn’t crank very strongly (felt like stalling) and I let off the start button. Checked the tracker and had 95% battery. Tried again and it fired right up. The rest of the day went fine with multiple starts on and off.

The only thing I noticed that the first time I tried to start it I noticed the software was “not connected”. On my second attempt it was connected. Wondering if the weak start has something to do software? Anyone else experience this?

Side note: had new cats and o2 sensors installed per a dealer fix from a check engine light I had going back a few weeks

Hi. I’ve no idea if this is the same as your issue but I’ve had a weak start from my car from shortly after purchase. It feels like it’s a battery/cranking issue with engine not turning over and typically takes second go to get started. I had put it down to the battery as the car had come from Lotus’s new stock and not direct from production so had languished for months without having a charge. However, Bell & Colvill dealership have advised it’s not the battery and it’s a known issue that Hethel are working on and there is a software and hardware fix planned. No idea when it will be released though. Regards

I had a similar issue. Before you start up, hold the “start” button down for ten seconds — then engage the clutch and brake and start normally.

No idea why this works — perhaps it primes the fuel pump?

Do you have a OBD reader? If so check your O2 sensor readings. I went through numerous pairs until we fixed what was destroying the sensors over and over again.

I was told that the car needs to "boot" before starting -- specifically the instruction was to wait for the car silhouette to finish in the center screen before starting. I have not experienced any starting issues since doing this.

i had exactly this and a recent software update in August improved it for me, still wouldnt say it starts with the gusto you would expect but it doesnt stall anymore.
