anyone else worried about the negative attention? or has already received negative attention?

They are committing crimes of opportunity and only cause damage if they have something to gain. They get dropped off by a minibus and check the locks of homes/cars. If the locks are open, they go in. If not, they move on. They don't damage property just for the sake of causing damage. The minibus comes back after a set time to pick them back up and move to the next group of homes. They are organized professionals.
Holy crap, what part of NoVA are you in? I haven't seen anything like that in my corner.

I am in the Washington D.C. area. It's a soulless place.
I feel for you. I frequent Baltimore area for work...there are areas I bypass and will not go into. I figure as long as I pay my toll at the Casino the God's will bless me. Oh and the Old Bay fee of course.

why would burglars respect parked exotics?
I had a Porsche for a while in SF, had zero break ins, likely figure if you have an “exotic” it’s likely not going to have anything of value in it because it’s already drawing attention as it is.

This has been going on in the McLean and Great Falls area. It happened to a "next door" neighbor of ours.

Edit: we spoke to a police officer who was parked on a nearby street. It's not the kind of place where cops typically go for a show of force. He told us about the highly organized nature of the theft ring that's working through our area. The officer said some pretty eyebrow raising things, which I can't repeat among people who are of a political persuasion.

Yeah I’ve also noticed this phenomenon where a lot of exotics are untouched in public spaces, not sure why.

How many infosec courses or cyber awareness's do you have to take to be elevated to professional?

Happening in gated communities out in Leesburg too.. Mostly taking cash (change), anything of value in the center/glove boxes, and $50/per gate remotes for the community. Got hit once, they nicely left my badge on a belt clip but took everything else of value. (yes, I was tired and left the door unlocked in my driveway)

Still waiting on my Emira, but the Elise gets mostly positive attention. Plenty of folks who's Dad had a Europa, Elan, Esprit, etc. Or folks who were fans of the Elise when it was released. I am pretty suburban here so not a lot of downtown parking adventures.

Being in LA, I am decently worried. I don't have enclosed parking. My place is old, and my garage is super small. I have tried to fit two different smaller cars (BMW 230i, Boxster) in the garage with no luck. It must've been designed for the model T or something.

Parked in my driveway, I had a break-in to my BMW last early this year. Side window was cracked in and some stuff was stolen: headphones, dirty clothes (?!?!), etc., but nothing of hugely significant value.

I am hoping that a cover + cameras will help deter from happening again. That or I have to find a place to move with a garage, lol.

Unusual problems require unusual solutions. You could be this guy!

absolutely I would never park the Emira in a place without enclosed + locked parking. that sounds super scary

ill be parking it in a public-ish parking garage for a little bit. it requires a keycard and its huge + tons of space + posh part of town so im not too worried, but I am a little. my next place will have a personal garage for sure tho

Don't want to move because I am getting a killer deal on the place, but It does make me nervous. My neighbor with whom I share a driveway parks his Porsche outside behind no lock and another neighbor street parks a G wagon. Not saying its the optimal scenario to stay, but hopefully if I use a cover for the Emira, any would-be thief is more attracted to one of those, ha.
