I've seen many of the varying posts regarding Milltek and GRP and other decat pipes... now that we've been out for a while has one proven to be better than the other? I read early fitment issues needing an expander here and there, is that true for both? Has anyone done the decat only without the valve controller? Any insight appreciated...

I have the GRP cat delete without milltek. The sound is fantastic in sport and track, nearly silent in tour. In other words you don’t need the valve controller to unlock sound- it’s just an additional enhancer and control.

I don’t think there are significant differences between milltek and GRP, just preference. Had professional install so I don’t know if they used an expander. You’ll want an extra gasket with either.

Thank you!

+1 (what he said).

Get a new gasket either way. Sounds great without the controller.

I had no problems with the GRP third cat delete pipe, inexpensive and arrived in 2 days to me.

The valve controller added way more sound than the third cat delete, thankfully you can just control what modes you want. Kind of a no brainer to me especially at the price.

GRP decat seems to be the default choice here unless you had a specific reason for the Milltek one, such as if you wanted the Milltek exhaust as well and wanted to keep it all the same brand.

My take on the valve controller is that it's up to you. After break-in, you can drive in the sport mode, which opens up the valve and you get *most* of the sound that you'd get with the controller. The controller makes it fully open and you get the most sound, but I am not sure if it's a big enough difference. So, IMO, the only "benefit" of the controller is being able to fully open the valves in touring mode. I don't know if that's enough of a reason to get it. I know that for me, when I am driving out or coming home, I don't want to bother my neighbors so I like it to be as quiet as possible.

I've got the Aerie decat. It's titanium and comes with their titanium exhaust. Just using the stock valve controller, and I run in sport mode everywhere except pulling into and out of my garage for the sake of my neighbors. The sound is terrific.
