I got a chip and a scratch on the bumper that needs to be fixed. I’ve never had that done before so looking for help.

I took it to a few body shops and got quotes of $800-$1700 and they all said need to take the bumper off, paint and then put back on. I’m ok with that I guess but then the last body shops said that they would do that but they wouldn’t be able to calibrate any sensors once reinstalled and would have to go to lotus and on other brands they sometimes charge upwards of $1500.

Does anyone know of that is true for this car or it’s fine to tell off the bumper paint the damage and reinstall it?

Thank you

Removing the bumper cover isn't bad and will allow the shop to do a better job without risking overspray. The parking sensors should easily be recalibrated by a qualified shop (if it's even needed).

Not sure why the parking sensors would need calibrating?

I removed front and rear bumpers when installing my carbon fibre parts, and simply unplugged the sensors, removed bumpers, refitted them, re plugged, and everything works just fine.
