We own a 2024 V6 manual, as do close friends whom live nearby. A northern state dwelling relative recently visited our Florida home to compare our Emira driving experience vs. the C8 he was considering buying. After comparing both drives he bought a new I4 First Edition, wanting the auto gearbox so his wife could also drive it, and left it in our garage for now until the weather warms enough to take it home.

When he made the original test drive at the dealer he noticed the yellow triangle/exclamation point displayed but not being familiar with the car thought nothing of it, even though the salesman briefly fussed with the controls to source the problem.

Upon taking delivery the triangle was still there, he had the service department look at it and they declared there was a telematics issue and replaced an antenna and declared it fixed. The owner drive it for an hour before putting it in our garage before going home.

As directed by the owner I started the car several days later and the telematics alarm went off again then shut off, so I drove the car a couple of miles and got a brief fault warning that the left rear blinker had failed. Not long after that another warning about the right blinker failing came up then dissapeared. Over the next three times driving the car the telematics warning came up then disappeared the same with a blinker failure warning. On one of those trips the telematics light stayed on for the whole trip.

I made an appointment at the dealer to fix the problem and dutifully notified the owner.
Enroute to the dealer the taillight warning indicated two times then vanished.

The dealer eventually told us that there had been no codes recorded in the ecu, and they couldn’t figure out the problem and had to contact Lotus ( the taillight warnings popped up irregularly for them as well. Now we’ve been told that there are 40 other cars, all I4s, that have the same problem, and it has not yet been sorted yet- the hope is that it’s a software problem but nothing has fixed it so far. I suspect that the owner of this car might choose to return it and go for the safer bet, the C8. He drove his car once during his ownership, the rest of the time it’s been in the shop with no known resolution. Anyone else had this issue?

I think the dealer might be B$ing. If there are 40 + cars with that issue, then it's probably subject to a recall. Ask a fellow forum member with an I4 and see if they have the same issue.

I've only had my I4 for a few days and a few hundred miles, but no glitches so far.

Yeah, mine has been doing it too although it doesn't happen very often. I read on the facebook group that it's a known issue and they are working on a fix so just waiting. I had sent a picture of the warning to the dealer just in case they needed proof before doing a fix. The blinkers work, so it's not causing any issues. If you turn on the blinker it makes the warning go away. At least it did for me.

I have a window trim piece that needs adjusting as well, so just waiting to get any issues sorted in one trip. I figure I'll probably find something else that needs sorting by then anyway.

The Telematics thing happens for cars not driven often since the independent battery dies in the SOS unit. There should be a software update to suppress that warning unless the system is actually dead. I also had that issue on my Emira on pick-up - which made the sales person angry - but went away after driving it a while and has never come back. I assume it would if I let it sit for over a week at a time without a proper 30 minute drive.

The rear blinker issue is something I have and so does @Wiz33 with his i4 car. I think for his he's only seen the left warning, mine is mostly the right and sometimes the left. Literally started having this warning the second time I used the turn signal after leaving the dealer lot. 800 miles later, it still comes on and off randomly and for different durations. I haven't been able to force reproduce the issue.

What I'm not sure is if the light is actually out or not. If the warning stays on it does hyper flash but because it often goes away fairly quickly, I've never gotten out of the car to see if the light is actually out or if it's just hyper flashing but working. I'm just thinking from a safety point of view, if it is actually randomly going out, then it's not safe.

Another random difference between some cars is the electronic parking brake not automatically releasing. For some people it seemed like resetting the infotainment fixes it, but for me it has not. Driving Wiz33 car it does automatically release. Frankly I remember my first few drives it automatically released too but it has not since then.

There are no stored codes in the car that my readers are able to pick up, so I believe the dealer.

Did the dealer connect the trickle charger leads on the battery for yo If he did, you may want to hook it up to the provide trickle charger if you don't plan on driving it for a few days.
