I like it… more to take a piss and for fun, and have ordered the same

I’ll live with the new donkey badges for a week or so and make a decision. I thought it was kind of funny too! I ordered some smaller Lotus Fender Badges and many people indicated that it appeared that I was trying to mimic/ or pretend I had a Ferrari. So when I saw the Jack Ass, I could not resist! From a pure esthetic point of view—(taking the joke out of it)—I wonder if the smaller badge compliments the car more?

The logo shows a "jackass" which most or at least most "old-timers" like me, view as a derogatory term for a person. Aside from meaning "a male donkey" the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as "a stupid, annoying, or detestable person", the Oxford dictionary "a stupid person", and the Collins dictionary "a contemptibly foolish or stupid person; dolt; blockhead; ass".

Some may view it as funny, however others may decide it's unlikely to be the car owner who put the logo on, to refer to him/herself as a "jackass"...and (perhaps) it's more likely to be a statement about Ferrari owners, since that triangular-type shape in yellow, especially with an animal rearing-up (ie. the Ferrari prancing horse), is associated with Ferrari. See logo below.

That said, I suppose someone could view it as a joke about the Emira resembling a Ferrari...but being a very distant and far less expensive cousin to a Ferrari??

I'd not put this logo on my Emira...but that's just me and I support 100% the right of any Emira owner to make his/her own decisions about what to do with their car.

I once parked my 3-day old new 2020 Corvette C8 at the far edge of a parking lot which was about 30% full (LOTS of open spaces). I parked it straddling a line on "2 parking spots" to stay away from a curb, especially given its wider door. To my surprise and when walking into a store, someone behind me spoke up and suggested I risked having my car "keyed" since I parked taking up 2 spots. At the time, there were only 2 people visible in the entire parking lot: him and I. With absolutely no other vehicles close to mine and lots of empty parking stalls everywhere, I couldn't believe his comment/warning. I use that to illustrate what some people view as an "offence justifying keying someone's vehicle". It doesn't have to make sense to you.

Although I do find it funny, personally, it would not be for me. What was your motivation?

I do think that most car people that realize this relates to Ferrari may misinterpret. Could be fun at a car show though.

I suppose I do like badges, and the yellow (Lotus) badge I had on my fender previously seemed to elicit a negative reaction from many. The implication that I wanted people to believe I was driving a Ferrari. When I saw the donkey badge, it put a smile on my face. Kind of a subtle way of reminding the universe not to take things too seriously—while adding a slight pop of color and personality.

Good thoughtful feedback. Interesting story about your C-8. I have allot of people ask me about my Emira? Most thinking it’s a Ferrari or some other exotic! I thought the donkey badge may put a smile on-people’s faces, especially those that know it’s a Lotus. Also a reminder not to take things too seriously! That being said, I can see how some might not get the humor—while even eliciting a negative reactions from some.

Over here, people would take it as implying the driver is the Jack Ass, but thats primarily due to the British mentality of always knocking those that have achieved

Here’s an alternate badge. (Maybe more appropriate since Lotus is connected to Volvo through Geely?)

Interesting! Maybe I’m the “Jack Ass”— LOL.

Interesting! The Moose Badges would certainly be an alternative! Thank you for taking time to share the back story and providing the links for the badges!

I mean the smile on the donkey pretty much sums up that its a joke. I like it. I don't think anyone who saw that in person would take it as a serious thing.
