Emira alternatives

On a super tight corners' autocross, lightness rules. An 800 HP car that weighs 3600 lbs can be demolished by a far less powerful 2400 lb Miata.
Yes, the streets and highways CAN be advantageous for the powerful heavyweight of a sportscar, but where I live, a car like the Emira will be much more fun than the C8 Corvette. As I mentioned, I drove one for more than 160 miles. I could "feel" it's weight when rounding tight corners. Certainly, on VIR or the ring, it would beat the Emira or an MX5 Miata, but how many people drive like that on a daily basis?

I'll take the fun car, thank you.
Me too, my Emira arrived today at dealer…ready to take it apart ;-)

Would take a Z06 any day over Emira as about the same price, but much more car for the money. And yes maybe less fun through twistiest, but a world apart when using the engine…flat crank screaming v8 vs Camry V6.

I will take the screaming engine car, thank you…but wont’ wait 5 years or pay over list. So very very happy with next best alternative for about same money ;-)

I believe steering feel is great in Emira, but than screwed up by:

1. Enormously FAT and square steering wheel...I mean come on, if you are all about steering feel and then fit THIS!????
2. Suspension setup...it didn't feel great in the car I testdrove. It was to soft, and therefore the car could as well do with american steering aid and feel.
Agree fully on 1 - the steering wheel is pants !

Disagree on 2 - the ride on my touring is amazing. Soaks up crap UK roads and goes round corners really nicely !

I am actually confused…my car arrived at the dealer on Friday, went to see it Saturday and the steering wheel actually felt much smaller than I can remember from the test drive. Actually felt pretty good…has Lotus changed something in the mean time???

Maybe your hands grew up from waiting for so long !!

Your sarcasm was hard to read on that previous post, got it now ✅

On Harry’s video he put this up as competition for the Emira showing it as a £73.3k car they start at £64.7k which includes carbon roof 😍
£73.3 you get full carbon seats and manual. I see some 🇺🇸 dealers are putting on $5- $15k mark up whilst here in 🇬🇧 I got a great discount ( although most were at RRP)
What’s she like in the flesh mine shud be due Sept.

As a Miata guy I thought it was enormous  but I’m a GT guy. Seat goes super low but the height is almost GTI height, good for us in 10 years

At first I thought ugly child but now I’ve embraced this ugly child 🥰
I think it’s a car you really need to see in the flesh - more aggressive rather than beautiful, mine’s currently in build now should be here mid August.
The way I look at it I’m cool 😎 that not everyone will love it - so I won’t see loads of them on the road as for well under £65k your getting a heck of a lot of car / technology and performance for that.
Colour choice too limited for M car - BMW need to address that

If you want to eliminate the front end looks, just get a black car. The car will blend into traffic and parking lots - something the Emira will not ever do.

I just noticed Porsche now sells a 718 Spyder RS. Didn't know there was a RS version, but at $160k starting definitely no value.

I got on the list at OTTOs this past Saturday, 16 months 550hp, $68k, perfect LOW seats wipers etc

I think part of the problem for me is that I'm currently in an F87 M2 Comp and the difference in styling between the two for me is just... jarring. It's a completely different approach.

That said, I do get the appeal. Not so much a beauty, more of a beast. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun on the road, too!

Spyder RS will for sure be a difficult car to attain. Also not for everybody, it is an intense type of car. Probably closer to caterham than Emira. GT3 engine and a tent for a roof. Cool car for what it is. Worth every penny if you can get an allocation. That car will never depreciate.

I wanted it until I saw the bikini top for a roof. No thanks, even in California I need some sort of sealing from the outside at times. Spyder RS is absolutely a summer only top down 95% of the time kind of car. 718 Spyder is a better and more usable sports car IMHO.

Not that I can afford a Spyder RS anyways.
