Emiras waiting for shipping to USA

I was at the local storage area for export Emiras in Norfolk yesterday. There were about 400 Emiras destined for the USA/Canada. Most seemed to be i4s, but I spotted 6 x V6 manuals, and as I didn't check them all there were probably more. The employee I spoke to said there were another 800 there last week, but they have been shipped (not sure to where). One or two cars had build sheets, one is included

Doh! I grabbed a picture of the build sheet because it was about the only car which had one showing. I just checked it was legible before posting it, didn't spot it was a V6 auto! There may be lots of V6 autos then. Most of the cars were certainly autos.
No worries… seems like mine was struck by a fireball from the Lotus gods…… thanks Rainier 🤣😂 🔥

I emailed customer service this weekend after receiving my i4 vin from my dealer (Lotus of Charlotte). My vin ends in 42xx.

This is the response I got from Lotus CS:

I reached out to our Sales and Distribution team and this is what I found out for you: This vehicle is an Emira Turbo. We are waiting for CARB approval before these units are shipped to the US. We do not have an ETA for this vehicle but expect CARB approval in the next few weeks.

Here we go again. I would have assumed they already took care of that???

So, few days ago my dealer let me know all approvals are complete for the I4. Expect car in few weeks. However, the Port of Baltimore would be effected by the Longshoremen’s strike Oct 1st if it doesn’t get resolved before then. 😬

It is now the end of October - six weeks after these pictures were taken and posted. How many cars are waiting in Norfolk? Are these on boats yet? Is my I4 among them???

Yup...still nothing here. So exhausted of waiting. If my dealer would let me cancel without forfeiting my $15k I would have done it three months ago. So disappointed with Lotus.

Said my I4 was completed 9/5/24 and gave me a vin. Said it should be here in 3-5 weeks. Now I’m hearing CARB won’t be approved until Nov/Dec. So, now DEC/Jan timeframe. One more delay I may forfeit my $2500 and get an LC 500 or a M3.

So currently in the 1200 club (1200 days since deposit placed). If delayed to early next year - most likely scenario from my dealer and as reported by others - that could push me into the 1300 club. Not a club I want to be in:mad:. No doubt many others in a similar position. Waiting on I4 delivery - Philly area.

To be fair Lotus did inform all perspective US Turbo owners to expect delivery Q1 2025. Yes, it stinks.
On the plus side we're all getting a 400HP (or more HP) AMG engine.
Downside, waiting and getting a 2024 MY in 2025,.

--Note from Lotus--
EMIRA Turbo I4
  • Supply chain constraints have caused a production delay for Turbo I4 Emira. These orders are now expected to arrive at the beginning of 2025.
  • U.S. homologation for I4 Emira will be completed in late 2024, with customer deliveries starting in early 2025.

So frustrating. You get a different answer depending on who you ask. My Dealer said "as far as he knew, it would be November/ December". I had already heard the January rumors before I asked. Why do the dealers seem uninformed and uninterested.

Well, IMO dealers are looking out for themselves as commissions are involved. If dealers told people your order is a 2 years away many people would look for other cars or maybe back out. Dealers appear to be playing games with people to keep them on the hook.

However, Lotus sent all deposit holders a pretty clear message for the first wave of US AMG cars- did you receive this email from Lotus?

I hope mine is in there somewhere, expecting to pick it up before Christmas!

No. That is another complaint. I have not received ANY communication from Lotus since placing my deposit in 2023. I am yet to receive even a thank you for your order. I have no confimation at all. Only what my dealer tells me. However, they are not reaching out proactively either. I only get information if I ask for it. I was given a VIN number from my dealer but I had to ask for that. Terrible buying experience so far
